Being that I am a dreadful "newbie" I am not sure if I am even aloud to chime in, but I think less fighting is always better. although I only have one gold star. I am sure there are a lot of good "newbies" who could add some great stuff to this board, but get turned away. I have been reading this board for over a year, but only post when I feel like I have something beneficial to add. I have to admit that it is hard to put my two cents in at times, without the fear of another member turning it into a bashing. What I have learned, is that there are a select few who are bored and like stirring the pot and I just take it for what it is. They have there group and anyone who is not in that "group" gets killed, no matter the "quality" of the post. .. That is cool, but it can get a little tired after about one post.. With that said, everyone always says there is so much to talk about in Baja, but it seams like we all get off track a little... The best way to stop the bashing would be, SIMPLY NOT responding to the basher's comments. Then it would stop real quick.. Then again maybe we all need some harsh criticism every once in a while, I just wish it never got personal...

I believe that anyone should be allowed to post without the worry of being attacked. Unfortunately, as you say there are a minority who would rather attack others than discuss all things Baja.

I must tell you that one of these guys is a friend of mine, JR, and I have been thinking of asking that a new button be added for his exclusive use--this botton would allow him to repeat any post having to do with the chicken group or P-nche gringo's without even having to think--Zap! strike the button and there you have it---an instant rant. No pain, no mess, and no thinking!

Come on JR--get back to the interesting things that you used to share with all of us that increased everyones interest and knowledge of 'our' Baja.---I still have the pictures of those two blonde kids that you posted a long time ago and have enjoyed all of your stories and most importantly your pictures of areas that most of us have never (and will never) see.

Oh! I voted for less conflict on the poll. I would have voted that way even if I had set up the poll. Guess I'm just a candy ass at heart.

Please, let's all get back to the positive Baja stuff and forget most of the negative junk.

and I don't attack Newbies without first being attacked. As far as the P-nche gringo posts go, it is a major part of living in Baja. And there are a group of them on here who I refer to as the chicken coop group.
They are the reason you left Baja. Perhaps not these specific ones but they all act pretty much the same as you know.
I have a bunch of them as neighbors on weekends when I am in Rosarito. Good thing it's only sometimes!
Perhaps I should have a poll? Who really wants to hear about Baja and all things concerned? Or who wants to hear some armchair blowhard tourists ideas of Baja from a week or two spent in a gringo enclave? :light:

Like I said before. I have no agenda here and know nobody on this forum. I have no idea what the "chicken group or P-nche gringo's" mean, I just know it gets used way to much. Kind of like the boy who cried wolf.. I just enjoy all the things by EVERYONE including Jr that people write, ABOUT BAJA.. Actually, if you go look in the photos section, JR has been posting some UNBELIEVABLE photos of late and I have really enjoyed that.
As for me, I am just here to soak it in and when I feel passionate about something or think I can answer a question, I will chime in. DOESN'T mean it's right or wrong, it's just my two cents and take it for what it's worth. I can tell you this. It will NEVER be personal, because how could I in the slightest bit know someone, just by what they write here on this forum, that isn't personal at all....

This is where you confuse me. Why does it bother you that (i am assuming David K) he post his week or two week trip? Who cares, the fact that he took the time to write about it is pretty cool. That is his passion, so what if he doesn't go to the places you consider special or your type of enclave. That is what this place is about, let people read it and if they go there, great.. I don't see anyone ever complaining about his "spots". Also, you hate P-nche gringo's, but you live in an area where they all visit and terrorize... I think you need to keep heading south.. I don't hate anybody. The feuds on here go back a long way although many of the posts have been deleted. This fact in itself has shown the lack of backbone possessed by some on here.
Most of the bs being posted has stopped, since the armchair advisors were called on their nonsense. Those posts have all been deleted as well, of course!
I enjoy all postings and pictures of Baja. I am passionate about all things Baja including any and all pictures and stories.

However, I am also passionate about truth, blowhards, and those who play by "questionable " rules. These are usually the guys getting too drunk, wrecking their cars and atv's, taking credit for others work, and giving gringos a bad name in general down here.
Since I am a gringo and live in both Baja Norte y Sur, I feel I am entitled to comment on their behaviour in the hopes that some will at least think about their actions before performing them.
If I didn't travel around down here so much, I probably wouldn't even be aware of this P-nche gringo behaviour that is becoming more prevalent every day but living here, you grow to see things for what they really are. Not knowledge gained on a two week vacation.
When this whole feud started, it was because I was commenting on the behaviour of certain gringos down here. I had no idea that so many would take it personally on here and that's when MH and the ccg'ers started calling me anti american. Needless to say, those posts have all been deleted.
Anyways, that's my story for the umteenth time and I'm sticken to it! Fortunately, I don't see this as anything more than entertainment (I don't like TV) so I will continue contributing pics and stories along with observations from living here.
And obviously, I am not sorry that they offend some. The real folks seem to enjoy them. :light:

It all sounds reasonable and yes I guess I was a little offended about the P-nche gringo stuff. Just know we all see it and I am sure everyone on here does not approve of it. as far as your battles, that's on you and your ccg'ers, (by the way thanks for the abbreviation, so tired of reading that). I was just offended again, when I got lumped in there and I think that's why a lot of others jump on you, because of the sort of paranoia theory that everyone is against you. At the end of the day, I still don't like reading all the high school chit, but it's a free country, or is it?.....

Mike, I've seen some pretty attacking posts from you as well.
I've even seen one or two that did nothing but start trouble.

I'd rather have more conversation of any sort. If all we did was talk stricktly about Baja, we would be Fred's board. Have you seen how few posts there are on his board this time of year - not many !

Doug allows like-minded Bajafishianatos to have less related discussions for the sake of sharing information and passing the time until our next trips south. Also a method for those in Baja to keep tabs and make contacts.

I'd rather have more spirited conversations than be forced to endure Fred style censorship. No offense to Fred, of course, but the difference in boards allows us to go where we're most comfortable. I don't understand why the "Fred" types insist on trying to change this board to be like his.
JUST GO USE HIS BOARD AND LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE !!

I am totally with you in enjoying how Doug allows a large degree of lattitude here and for that we should be thankful.

I didn't have anyone in mind whan I posted this poll. That doesn't mean I don't recognize those of us that do the most negative posting though.

I asked a question without mentioning names and another person jumped in with his usual garbage and across the board generalizations.

As I said, I hoped this poll would show all of us, especially Doug, that the negativity is not something people want.

Regardless of your lack of understanding of my original intention, the poll still, at the present, shows that a significant majority of us WOULD like to see the bickering stop.

FOR EXAMPLE: I do not know all the specifics of the history between JR and DK. I don't really care. I don't need to know. It is none of my business. I do not accept gossip from either source. I accept opinions for input, not as fact.

I also find it amazing that those who are irritated by JR, start posts and add messages that accomplish nothing but to create and/or extend the type of exchanges they say they want to eliminate. If JR was the only offender or responder, these confrontational threads would be much shorter. You guys must just be pulling my leg - you know you like it !

besides jrbaja...i think that most people on here treat this forum as a regular conversation in normal life which as far as i know doesnt involve degrading the person you are talking to...there will always be those who feel the need to patronize and belittle others to make themselves appear as "intelligent and all-knowing",but the funny thing is the only one they ever really fool is themselves...this forum is a great place for baja information and insight as well as "baja tales"...i hope the people that really enjoy it will stick around and the people that use it as a place to insult others might want to check out the thousands of other websites where they actually encouage rudeness and insulting

Actually, while I wouldn't have predicted the outcome of this poll, I am disappointed that so few took part in the statistical part of it. But, regardless, it still makes a point that the majority of those who responded would enjoy a board with less arguing and beligerance. I don't have a problem with those things, but we could suggest they belong elsewhere other than the General Discussion Center.

I just hope Doug is listening.

I come to Baja quite often. I usually sneak past Roasaito because it is becoming very much like southern California. I have stopped by your place twice only to find you and Carol gone.

When I sold and left Baja it did not mean I was castrated or that I lost my love for Baja. It just meant that I could chose my destinations quietly and thus not disturb my friends on this Forum.

What seems really strange is that some my earliest posts were very controversial and never degenerated with interjected garbage as so many do here recently.

I'll say it again. I don't enjoy my involvement in some pseudo turf war.
