I am getting ready to do the tile work in my house on the rio hardy and I was wondering if anybody out there has a place they could recomend to buy
ceramic tile in baja norte? I'm doing both countertops and floor.

If you want the best (handmade) it's JR tile in Tecate. For reproduction look at Lomalei Tile in TJ or Rosarito.
Floor:

If your place is on Rio Hardy, you might want to check out San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. There's a good place on the main drag (Obregon) about 3
blocks from the garita.
BUT, if you want Saltillo... I checked out 3 places in SLRC, 3 years ago when we built in San Luis, AZ. I factored in price (in cash) with probable
breakage- no return-no guarantee and transporting it myself and got a much better deal at Home Depot in Yuma. O% financing, free delivery and they
replaced every single broken piece, no questions.

No, but I can tell you how to get there:
From TJ it's the first Tecate exit off the cuota. Exit right (toward Tecate) and take the very next left. There is a (small) sign.

All along Agua Caliente in TJ starting at Lomeli tile there are some great places. Check out some of their "closeout" specials. I was able to cover
1200 SF with 13" ceramic tile for less than Saltillos. There are some awesome deals, you just need to nose around a bit. If you need a landmark ask
where the El Sombrero restaurant is. That isn't the name, but it is the shape of the building - one big hat. The tile stores are all around it.wilderone - 8-17-2005 at 08:47 AM
Everywhere I bought tile in TJ it was returnable if it was in an unopened carton. The saltillos, likewise, were returnable if I had bought too many.
The staff at Lomilli loaded them in the truck for me - not one broke en route. They cost twice as much at HD (Home Depot), and sometimes are a light
orange color instead of the nicer brick red. Also, HD doesn't have the choice that the Mexican stores selling saltillos: the hexagon, smaller square
and rectangular. And, BTW, these tile stores in TJ sell tile from Italy, Indonesia and elsewhere, as well as the marble, slates, travertine, etc -
