Countertops:
If you want the best (handmade) it's JR tile in Tecate. For reproduction look at Lomalei Tile in TJ or Rosarito.
Floor:
If you want Saltillo then the best prices are in Tecate.

I bought saltillos at Lomilli in TJ for 85 cents each - good quality - consistent color with few, if any, flaws. Lomilli is known for its selection
of Mexican tiles, mosaics and miscellaneous trim. There are about a dozen very good tile stores on the same block as Lomilli in TJ for porcelain and
ceramic tile (buy porcelain), marble, etc. You will find everything you can imagine and more on these couple of blocks. Before you get to this area,
there are also two excellent tile stores at the corner of Paseo de Heroes, across the street from the Calimax. I bought tile from both these places.

If your place is on Rio Hardy, you might want to check out San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. There's a good place on the main drag (Obregon) about 3
blocks from the garita.
BUT, if you want Saltillo... I checked out 3 places in SLRC, 3 years ago when we built in San Luis, AZ. I factored in price (in cash) with probable
breakage- no return-no guarantee and transporting it myself and got a much better deal at Home Depot in Yuma. O% financing, free delivery and they
replaced every single broken piece, no questions.
Of course, your place is over there. I wonder how duty is re-importing Mexican products into Mexico? Maybe there's an HD in Mexicali.

No, but I can tell you how to get there:
From TJ it's the first Tecate exit off the cuota. Exit right (toward Tecate) and take the very next left. There is a (small) sign.
(Bring lots of cash.)

Aqua Caliente
All along Agua Caliente in TJ starting at Lomeli tile there are some great places. Check out some of their "closeout" specials. I was able to cover
1200 SF with 13" ceramic tile for less than Saltillos. There are some awesome deals, you just need to nose around a bit. If you need a landmark ask
where the El Sombrero restaurant is. That isn't the name, but it is the shape of the building - one big hat. The tile stores are all around it.

Everywhere I bought tile in TJ it was returnable if it was in an unopened carton. The saltillos, likewise, were returnable if I had bought too many.
The staff at Lomilli loaded them in the truck for me - not one broke en route. They cost twice as much at HD (Home Depot), and sometimes are a light
orange color instead of the nicer brick red. Also, HD doesn't have the choice that the Mexican stores selling saltillos: the hexagon, smaller square
and rectangular. And, BTW, these tile stores in TJ sell tile from Italy, Indonesia and elsewhere, as well as the marble, slates, travertine, etc -
not just traditional Mexican tile. The cost is about 1/3 US prices.

Are there any good tile stores in Ensenada? If so, are they grouped together as in TJ?
