Frank, do you mean the "Glowman" of San Juan de la Costa??
Or is there another at Agua Verde. I know who painted the "Glowman" of San Juan de la Costa, but I never have seen or heard of a glowman at Agua
Verde.
I would be interested to know as I plan on going into Agua Verde this winter..I would like to check him out.
Anymore info?

because when I was there a couple years ago, it was nowhere near the condition of that photo. And there have been many storms since then.

Very interesting article about the shrine, and the villagers and the ol' fellow that glows. Tracking them down would be a good adventure.
As far as the Green Glowman of San Juan de la Costa. I know him well, almost on a personal basis...Hmmmmm.
Actually, I have friends who own quite a large piece of property just up the arroyo from the Glowman. I visit them every winter, when I am in Baja,
and every time I stop and say Hi!! to the Glowman.
I'm sorry to report that he is looking more vibrant in the photos shown here than he has been these past couple of years, but he is still very
impressive.
In 2003 I met the man who painted him, his name is Martin and he is the care taker of the property that my friends own, he lives in a small casita on
the property and has lived there for seven years or more with his wife, Martina, and their little six year old girl, Indra Suje. He is a carpenter
and general handyman, about 40 years old....simple kinda guy.... tans beautiful rattlesnake hides....drinks lotsa cervesas....loves Tequila.... and
has a puff more often than not....Perhaps this is what brings out Martin's artistic talents. One day he just decided that that rock face was his kind
of medium. A couple of friends helped him lug the paint over to it along with a long ladder and he did his thing. When I see him next I will tell him
how famous his Glowman has become and maybe I can get him some more green, and yellow, and purple paint so he can spruce him up a tich.
Sorry, I can't report that the Martians dropped out of the sky and painted this Glowman. But I can definitely assure you that Martin scaled that rock
face and probably got higher than usual to paint this masterpiece.

To get back to the rock outcropping in Bahia Concepcion, according to Don Pablo Mesa, the late caretaker of La Perla campground, the white outline was
painted by a local artist who somehow actually managed to talk the government into paying him to do it. Thus it was a public art project.
I'm just guessing, but I'd say he was possibly inspired by Christo (not Jesus, the other one). Either that, or he was smoking some really good s**t.

I remember when Christo "outlined" several small islands in Biscayne Bay with some kind of floating material. He seems to favor fabrics. As best I
can understand the concept, it's taking some feature of nature (or man-made such as the Great Wall) and "enhancing" it. The rock outcropping is
natural, the "artist" just outlined it with white paint.
