South Campos Parade of lights?

N2Baja - 12-5-2005 at 07:29 PM

Does any one from the campos south of San Felipe know if there is going to be a parade of lights this year and, if so, can you tell me the date?

Thanks! :D

Do you want more people?

ArvadaGeorge - 12-6-2005 at 08:10 AM

Do you want more people?
I have a group from Colorado.
We will be camping at Nuevo Matzalan 12-23 to 1-6-06
There are several ATV?s
We could decorate
And join you
Where do you meet?
What time?
How far do you drive?
When is it over?

N2Baja - 12-6-2005 at 10:01 AM

Woo hoo! :bounce: Yes, BajaRob, we definitly want to enter! Is there an entry form or something to fill out? (in the past we've just shown up)

Thanks for your interest guys. Yes we want more people as size does matter. We meet @ the Community Center about 4:30 (Will firm up B4 event). The course is about 10 miles long and usually takes about 1.5 - 2 hours. There is no entry form but it would be helpful if you could provide the # of entrants and their names. We will look forward to meeting you and your participation. Rob

We will be there. At least 3 avt?s and may be a motorcycle
I don?t know where the Community center is; but Santa Maria isn?t that big.

That's great George, I will let Randy Jr know. Santa Maria is @KM31, Nuevo Mazatlan is @ KM32 & the Community Center is @ KM35 behind Chelo's restaurant & Dr Pepe's office. I will come to NM to give you the final details. Rob

N2Baja - 12-15-2005 at 12:32 PM

We'll be there with a bronco, 2 three-wheelers and 3-4 quads. I can't wait; it's always so much fun! I look forward to meeting some people from the board too.

Rob, can you describe this parade for us?

Parade of Lights

BajaRob - 12-16-2005 at 08:50 AM

is a celebration of the Christmas Season. Many of the South Campos residents decorate a wide range of vehicles including trucks, trailers. rails, buggies and ATVs with lights. Some are battery powered but most use small generators. The entrys are quite creative and we give trophys for the best of the best. We start and finish at the Community Center and much of the route runs on the beach. Thanks for asking. Rob

David K - 12-16-2005 at 08:55 AM

OOOOH... COOL! Thanks! Maybe we will see it???

BajaRob - 12-16-2005 at 09:07 AM

We'll leave a light on, Rob

ArvadaGeorge - 12-16-2005 at 09:17 AM

We are planning big fire on the beach in Front of Nuevo Mazatlan For the non Participants.

You should be in it. If you have a 12v to AC inverter it?s easy.
Buy some Christmas lights (2sets for $4.00 at Walgreen?s)
& tape them on ---It sounds and looked like fun we saw it last year

My wife Louise and I are riding our atv and I will probably run my helmet Cam
( I have never run it at night???)

David K - 12-16-2005 at 09:35 AM

Toyota has a 110v outlet in the bed of the Tacoma... stock! Makes it easy, huh? (Ken, does your Jeep have ... oh, never mind:lol: )

David

BajaRob - 12-16-2005 at 09:40 AM

You're halfway there. Can I sign you up?

David K - 12-16-2005 at 09:50 AM

Friday the 30th? We won't be leaving San Diego until Friday PM (after work), so unless the parade is at midnight... bummer! We probably will come down early Saturday morning... Have a great time and please take some photos to post here on Nomad!

If not sooner, see you Saturday afternoon! We will visit with BajaLou and company on our way south to Bahia Santa Maria and/or Shell Island!

turtleandtoad - 12-16-2005 at 10:21 AM

It's probably too late for this year, but Camping World and other RV accessory sites sell all kinds of 12V lite strings for RV's, incuding xmas lites.

bajalou - 12-16-2005 at 07:40 PM

David, where is the inverter located for the 110? and what is the wattage? I think all off road vehicles should have one - very useful.

;)

El Camote - 12-18-2005 at 06:06 PM

Lou, I seem to remember a similar group going through El Dorado all lit up (probably in more ways than one) some years ago. Is there an organized parade for the north campos? If not, let's start one!!

bajalou - 12-18-2005 at 06:17 PM

A few from the nieghborhood did one a few years ago around Christmas - think some are doing it this year but not sure.
