how many are planning on going to the Cactus Party?

M - 8-27-2006 at 05:49 AM

BHL and I are going for sure. who else?

I hope old and new really try to make an effort to go. We should all have more face time so to speak so that the new Nomads can meet us all. Every past gathering has left everybody feeling incredibly happy and lucky to to put faces behind the posts.
After every event, I always feel richer and happier to have met so many instant lifelong friends.
Baja, new friends, good food a bus, what's not to like?

Marian and I.

Baja Bernie - 8-27-2006 at 09:05 AM

Bernie and me!

Neal, I guess I should say Normal Nomad, Baja Bernie. Some of the young ones will not understand but all they have to do is look at the various titles to see that there is only 'one' Normal Nomad.

Michelle, I would love to be there, I miss everybody.....but, a 2 day drive each way is out of my body and money budget for an afternoon....

AH HECK! Maybe I can swing an airline ticket! Can I get a ride and a room from someone?

Bajame - 8-27-2006 at 01:23 PM

Wheres the meeting place? if we our coming from the south?

Bajaboy - 8-27-2006 at 02:30 PM

I'll be returning from Bahia Asuncion/Vizcaino desert that day so I probably won't make it.

Zac

We intend to make it

John M - 8-27-2006 at 02:43 PM

You also need to read the original threads (link posted just above) strated by BajaCactus as those will be the place details are given. This thread started my M is soley to ask who plans on attending. Here is what I can tell you so far:

The latest details are a day of fun visiting a few places around Tijuana and we will be traveling V.I.P. style in buses the originate in San Diego.

Nomads (and non-Nomads) joining us from the south may be able to join us at the first stop...?

The day will finish at a good (inexpensive) restaurant where we may get to hear from some Baja authors and others who have something to share... what I call 'Baja Show and Tell'.

IF you would like to discuss your book, Baja related business, or a door prize donation please email me at info*at*vivabaja.com and put 'Viva Baja Cactus' in the subject line

Ken Cooke - 8-27-2006 at 05:18 PM

Suzanne and I will be there.

Debra,

M - 8-28-2006 at 07:29 PM

come in to John Wayne airport and I'll pick you up. SPARE me L.A!
Hugs, M

bajaandy - 8-29-2006 at 05:37 PM

You can count at least two from my party, possibly 8. I can't wait for another Baja get-together.

Debra - 8-29-2006 at 06:34 PM

Michelle, John Wayne, that's "ANA" Anaheim right?

I'm kind of waiting to see what happens in the next few weeks with the ugliness happening, I was hoping to already be in Baja by then, but, with what has been happening I have to say for the first time I'm concerned about traveling alone with Brendan. As an adult I can take what ever risks I choose, but, Brendan? NO WAY! Thanks for the offer, I'll follow up in email when I figure it out.

John Wayne is in Irvine

Debra - 8-29-2006 at 08:14 PM

M:..I mean the airport, since I retired, and since airport names seem to change with the wind, I'm never quite sure......airport codes never do), ....I still think that is "Ana" Anaheim that is nearest to you...

As I said, I'm going to sit back for a couple of weeks and see what happens, I'll let you know. Thanks and hugs, Debra

David K - 8-29-2006 at 11:18 PM

Debra, it has been called John Wayne for many, many years... It is a major jet international airport for Orange County, not a muni airport like Anaheim...

John Wayne / Orange County airport sits on the edge of Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Santa Ana. The terminal is actually in Santa Ana (18601 Airport Way, 92707) and the airport code is SNA.

AmoPescar - 8-29-2006 at 11:56 PM

DEBRA...

John Wayne is SNA

You could also check rates for Long Beach...LGB...on an Alaskan Flight. It's a bit farther, but So MUCH easier to get in and out and the flights into there are sometimes quite a bit cheaper. No long baggage waits and real easy check in and out.

You might check on coming in on Thursday and going home on Tuesday. Those are sometime the cheapest days.

AmoPescar - 8-29-2006 at 11:58 PM

M...

I am planning on attending.

M - 8-30-2006 at 08:56 AM

WOW!, I am so happy to see the list growing. It will really be nice to see some old AND new friends. Debra, Amo is right about Long Beach and it is only about another 15 miles. Not a big deal and it probably will be cheaper for you too.

Debra - 8-30-2006 at 08:54 PM

You are all right.....I first thought "SNA" but re-THUNK myself! (maybe you are right M, 50 b-days are enough!) or maybe just too many years away from using aiport codes after the almost 20 I did? Thanks guys.....
