I would appreciate any recommendations on lodging in San Quintin & El Rosario. I am looking for a clean, quaint place with reasonable rates. I
prefer to avoid "Americanized" hotels. Thank you.

In some ways, clean & quaint is generally done when targeting those of us from north of the border.
As it goes, for myself and many others, the newer rooms at the back of the Baja Cactus Motel in El Rosario seem to be the best value in this
geographic area, and throughout much of the peninsula.
"Reasonable rates" is a subjective term thrown "out there" by so many people when making this type of request - but always gets down to what that
individual considers "reasonable" - so therefore you should be more specific in what you're looking for, inquiring about, etc.

Yes, Baja Cactus in El Rosario. next to the Pemex.
For San Quinton, the Old Mill is nicer; Cielito Linda is older; La Pinta is expensive. I would chose the Old Mill. Or Cielito Linda if cleanliness
isn't an absolute requirement.

Is it just for an overnighter, or are you staying in the area for a vacation?
EL ROSARIO: Baja Cactus, next to the Pemex: Only $30 and finer than most HOTELS in the U.S. at 4 times the price...

SAN QUINTIN: if just passing through, drive the extra 25-30 miles to El Rosario (see above). If staying, then drive the couple dusty miles west to the
Old Mill, on the bay (Molino Viejo). I used to stay at Cielito Lindo when it was owned by Dave and Juanita... just an overpriced dirty room now...

....Yep, hard to beat the Cactus Motel in El Rosario...the Bang-4-the-Buck factor is there hands down. One time we couldn't make it there and stayed
in San Quintin because we do not drive Mexican roads at night. Click here to see this thread- http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=21409
