I believe the Sat. phone will act like you are dialing from inside the USA (or whatever country you obtained the phone from).
The tourist assistance hot line is 078... works from cell phone or landline in Northern Baja.

Not necessarily true. The default operator is Mexican in Baja. Go figure! Be
prepared to speak Spanish. You should be able connect directly thru them for emergencies.
Whatever you do don't use Globalstar. Irridium has a much better service in Mex.
