Strongest Man in Baja

bajadogs - 6-29-2007 at 08:22 AM

We spent last weekend in San Felipe. It lacked the adventure to warrant a trip report but it was a fun weekend introducing a Massachusetts sister-in-law to the Sea of Cortez. There was plenty of entertainment on the beach. One clown nearly drowned himself while launching his waverunner requiring an ambulance to back down the beach. He was very shaken up but OK.

Here is a series of photos of the strongest man in Baja in front of El Cortez Hotel -

What a brave soul that man is, at least he got a "little feel", ok, a lot!

Really there should be a law, if you cannot get in and out of a boat, especially on shore, you shouldn't be allowed!

Kind of like with motorcycles/ATV's, if you can't start em, you can't ride em'!

I hope Greenpeace doesn't see those pictures.

Diver - 6-29-2007 at 08:33 AM

Thank goodness he was there to help get her off the beach !
I have heard so many sad tales of beached whales dying on the shore....

SAVE THE WHALES!

woody with a view - 6-29-2007 at 11:08 AM

harpoon a fat chick?

vandenberg - 6-29-2007 at 11:11 AM

This calls for a small engine hoist on the bow. :P:P:o:o:lol::lol:

Russ - 6-29-2007 at 11:20 AM

I hate that when that happens:saint:

DENNIS - 6-29-2007 at 11:25 AM

That poor girl. You have to feel bad for her.

The skipper of that skiff could've saved himself a lot of work had he stood the young lady in the bow and hit the beach at 40 mph, launching her to the life-guard stand. But, then again, maybe BajaWarrior was right.

bajadogs - 6-29-2007 at 11:42 AM

It WAS a very funny scene. The husband missed the show. He was the one behind the panga. All jokes aside, they were having a blast. The skipper earned his money that day.

That really works? I'll have to try next time I find the boat a little overlaoded.

your horrible....:lol::lol: sad but true....

kellychapman - 7-1-2007 at 12:55 PM

I am ashamed for laughing at that remark. But I must say for those with "bulbous" body shapes it is just as bad when your too thin. I suffered a serious injury to my stomach when I hit a very large "elk" and had to have stomach surgery...as a result I was unable to eat (normal) for several years...leaving me to look like a cadaver as my sister told everyone in my family...so if you do not think people say horrible things about you when your toooooo thin think again...they point and stare and think you are bulimic or anorexic and let me say it is just as bad....
I guess I am just jealous because there are times when I cannot eat at all (liquids only) and I want to scream at people that seem to REALLY enjoy consuming large volumes of food....or just eating at all...
I guess the answer is to try and take as good a care as we can for our health....which is very hard to do in todays life as everything is based on food...I did not leave the house or could barely watch tv for the first year because of all the "food" offered...restuarants...billboards...commercials..grocery stores...fast food...minimarts blah blah blah....it was horrible. It is almost harder to be too thin I think sometimes...at least from my situation....
I am glad that the kind gentleman was there to offer help for the lady in distress...god bless her for getting out there and trying to have a good time...as long as she is comfortable with who she is...god bless :bounce:her...:bounce::bounce::bounce:

Yep, there is a definite line between fun and nasty.
Unfortunately, that line is in different places for each person.

Now I am in jeapardy of losing favor with my favorite Asuncion storyteller, freight handler and neighbor......what to do, what to do ??

His sense of humor was 15 feet tall.
Why do people try to ignore the person they have made? If it meant enough to that person to develop to a particular size, why can't they accept the outcome? That was the result of one's lack of self-respect.
OK.....New today, new self-respect. Undo the self-inflicted mayhem and repair yourself. Get skinny.

Yes, that will help---just get your place built.

It is OK to agree to disagree. Also, I guess this means you won't mind the arrowhead stand we are building by your property.:yes:

Diane

Last thought to all. I can, and do make remarks about myself being the fat little old grey haired lady, but my first thought here was that while that lady was having a good time, did she know she was going to published on the internet to be the target of cheap shots?

And gentlemen, it is different with women and some of you will never understand it, but that is OK.---it would take too much time to explain, and might fall on deaf ears.

Even if I was skinny, I would have still hurt and found the humor tasteless. And if you think I reacted to this, you should have heard John----OK, off the soap box now, and back to packing for Baja.

DENNIS, you are one of the rudest most insensitive guys on this site! Why do you assume that I took any of the Greenpeace/whale/fat cracks personally? Might it be because you saw yourself in my response? Did I mention your name?? Remember, I told you if I was talking specifically to YOU, I have the guts to mention you by name. It has absolutely no bearing on my original comments on this thread, but I'm tall & thin. My comments were for others people who are hurt and/or offended by all the rude & insensitive comments made by a lot of guys. And for the record, I'm equal opportunity...if females made those comments, I'd have called them on it too!

What happened to that public apology that you posted for making rude & offensive posts that put you in a timeout?? So much for mending your ways! It was certainly short-lived!

Dang!! I knew that Hose A has a right to monitor my posts, I didn't know I had to get your approval on what threads I can post PRIOR to posting on any thread I chose to!

Thanks for your post, Wiley...but I doubt he gives a rip...

I once saw a news report on TV that looked at a conclusion of a scientific study that said men were smarter than women.

Later in the same segment a reporter was interviewing a man about it while his wife was by his side.

The reporter asked the man, "Do you think men are smarter, or women?"

The man almost spoke, hesitated, then looked at his wife and said, "Women are smarter.. of course"

 That's a smart man.

None of us know when it is right to say certain things all the time. We all put our feet in our mouths sometimes. Everyone has different ideas of what is mean and insensitive, as everyone has different ideas about what is funny.

Most people could us a lightening up for sure. (Pun is intended)

I just read this post for the first time and here is my take on this

That lady could not care less what any of you think of her body...it is her body and that is the end of that discussion. From what I see, Mexican women have a more positive body self-image than most gringa women that I know.

That does not give you the right to insult her but I doubt if she needs any of our protection.:dudette:

Thanks for the bump docsmom,

I do agree with with your "tasteless" comment.

The jokes got ugly and I apologize to anyone who was offended. I've learned a lot here. I swear I never meant for it to turn into what it became.

Bajajudy - I agree! I never meant to insult her or her family. They were having a great time.

Peace,
Mark

This has never been about her or her body...that was never funny, the laughs was in the comments and yes, if a person is a sensitive prude that was the funnest of all...I am sorry they cannot feel as good as I do. At 60+ pounds over weight I need to laugh as much as I can and I make no apologies period.
