New boat

Don Alley - 6-29-2007 at 09:50 AM

Our boat is here:

23' Van-Diaz Panga.

We are waiting for insurance, but mostly for the ramp. We don't want to beach launch it our first time. I talked to one of the ramp construction workers this morning (Friday) and he said it will open when API decides to open it. His guess: one to three days.

Hook - 6-29-2007 at 09:55 AM

Looks like an "H" top, rather than a "T" top, huh, Don?

Beautiful color; I love blue hulls. Is the interior blue or white?

Cypress - 6-29-2007 at 10:00 AM

Congratulations and good fishing.

Diver - 6-29-2007 at 10:16 AM

Ah, the wonderful day a new boat arrives.....
Clean and shiny and full of promise of fun adventures.
Enjoy it as long as you can !!!!

I'm ready, I even have bait in the tank:

backninedan - 6-29-2007 at 11:27 AM

Don, lets sneak down to the ramp tonight and launch it, nobody will notice.............

Russ - 6-29-2007 at 11:36 AM

Nice! I have a '93 model from him. I thought I saw a speck of dust on yours, I'll bet Pam threw it in there.

BajaWarrior - 6-29-2007 at 11:37 AM

That is an absolute beauty! Congradulations!

oldhippie - 6-30-2007 at 05:56 AM

I always wanted a panga. That bamboo bimini top is rather large tho.

Russ - 6-30-2007 at 05:57 AM

"Taco Wagon" says, "Lupe build me four years ago. I was the second hull out of the new mold. My owners love me because I'm dry, fast and pretty as the day I was born. I've worked very hard at teaching my owner how to fish." Harry, the owner, says you'll love your boat. That one is his fourth Dias boat. I have his third one. Have fun! Russ

Crusoe - 6-30-2007 at 06:34 AM

Don......You must be a very proud "papa"..... She is a real beauty.Purpose built and designed to get the job done right, and last forever. Many happy days to you. Enjoy ++C++:D:D

bajajudy - 6-30-2007 at 07:02 AM

WOW
I got panga envy:dudette:

bajadave1 - 6-30-2007 at 07:41 AM

Don,

After our U2U's, I went over to Lupe's to see it. Neither he or his son were there to ask about ownership. Turns out it WAS the best looking. Much nicer than the whites or blacks.

Bueno suerte & get some blood on the deck ASAP.

WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW!!!!! You dun good! Now we need to be informed on maiden voyage launch! Congrats Don!

toneart - 6-30-2007 at 06:03 PM

Don

Congratulations! It's a beauty.

I can understand you not wanting to launch it from the beach the first time. After it breaks its maidenhead, you will love the capability of pangas to launch from the beach and also land on a beach. I do it all the time. Here are some photos of my well used panga (I'm not a cop but the former owner was):

howat - 7-2-2007 at 02:50 PM

Don, Just love your boat. Good luck breaking her in. Also like the design of your tee top which does not require deck legs to take away from the walk-around space. i've got a center seating area on my Cabo 216 which I believe could take this design as well. Who designed and manufactured the tee top? Any guessimate what just the tee top costs?

Dennis

Don Alley - 7-2-2007 at 04:06 PM

Howat, I don't know who manufactured the t-top, installed at the factory in Los Barilles. Price for the top was 2300 US on the invoice.

Lordy, what a beautiful shot, Don!

That gets me hotter than if it were all the Tecate girls on the shoreline.

Time for some clamp-on rocket launchers.

Clamp on rocket launchers on the t-top, and on the bow rails. Cup holders! Two more flush holders by the console so I can drive and grab a rod quickly. Stereo amp and T-top mounted box speakers for my iPod. Cooler seat in front of console. Built in tackle box/drawers. Boater's World, here I come, soon.

Hook - 7-2-2007 at 05:04 PM

dont forget a couple basic spreader lights, while you're there. One fore and one aft (separately switched) will probably do it.

Santiago - 7-2-2007 at 05:32 PM

Wow! I can't think of anything more enjoyable than gearing up a new boat. Hot damn!

LaTijereta - 7-2-2007 at 06:49 PM

I'm guessing you might not be a boat owner? If you are you should know this truism:

The two happiest days in the life of a boat owner:

1. The day he buys a new boat.
2. The day he sells it.

That looks like the same model as mine, Russ, only mine is not as clean. One day during the winter or spring I'll cruise over there and we'll have a show and tell. (I won't be down until New Years).

Glad to hear you are getting cleaned up so fast. Those photos looked pretty forboding.
