Has anyone out there had any experience with bringing mounts into Baja? I have a whitetail, pheasant and Bufflehead I would eventually like to bring
down. Just wondering if it would be a problem.Bob and Susan - 7-30-2007 at 05:54 PM

Ok OK If I had said stuffed mounts I might be talking about some of your wives. How about trophy mounts or dead animal mounts.DENNIS - 7-30-2007 at 06:45 PM
Do you have any dead, stuffed, mounted fish like a halibut or a ling cod?BirdDog - 7-30-2007 at 06:50 PM

You don't have any stuffed golden retrievers, maybe four of 'em, do you?BirdDog - 7-30-2007 at 06:55 PM
As far as goldens go a stuffed one would be best.Bajalero - 7-30-2007 at 07:38 PM

Can't resist...
An old lady was grief-stricken when her pair of pet monkeys of many years died almost simultaneously. As she could not bear the thought of parting
with them, she decided to take them to a taxidermist instead of burying them. As she placed the box with the dead monkeys on the counter, she was
overcome with sobbing and could hardly speak. The sympathetic taxidermist gently inquired, "Yes Madam, you would like them mounted?"
"Oh no!", sobbed the lady, "Just shaking hands will be fine."
Seriously, it's doubtful any Mexican officials would care. They didn't care about the pair of live squirrel monkeys that accompanied us years ago.
But, I would check with US Customs if you plan to take them back into the US someday. I had a Ringneck mounted in SLRC a few years ago and brought it
back under a pile of clothes etc. and forgot to mention it. I wasn't sure it was a problem or not, just didn't want to make a big deal out of it.BirdDog - 7-31-2007 at 06:32 PM
Great one Oso. Thanks for the info.CaboRon - 8-7-2007 at 11:21 AM

BirdDog, Travel light! Those mounts just take up space. Take a picture of 'em
and give 'em to a friend.Iflyfish - 8-7-2007 at 05:02 PM
I got mounted myself once in Mexico.........I'll tell you about it sometime Bird

I did see a dandy Marlin spear and pectoral fins attached to the spot Texan's normally reserve for the horns. It was on an old RV, 70s model, clapped
out pretty good, on a flat bed going north on the Copper Canyon train. I was impressed enough to remember it to this day. I had always hoped I would
find a proper occasion to tell that story. The mounting story will have to wait.
