Just case.... prepare for hurricane

Cervisin - 8-21-2007 at 07:25 AM

I did learn while living here on preparation for the hurricanes, yet there might be others that face it the first time. What do you suggest?

I stock up on water, food, candles, batteries, fuel for car and generator, extra propane.

Cervisin .. Sure a tear sponge would be good. But during the sideways rain you may need something to clean up those little water spots. Of course that's after the shop vac and squeegee.

I'm lucky to live in house new remodeled so roof and windows ok, at least last year. For doors I use them big black garbage bags, 2-3 shovels sand in it and roll to sausage outside of door did it for me. (Never understand while porch tile floor slopes in direction house/door and not opposite.....)

Cervisin, That is a great tip on the garbage bag sauages, I just e-mailed it to my daughter at home. Even though she is an expert at preparing for hurricanes, I think every little idea helps.

Tis the season to keep our fingers crossed. I have been so lucky so far; all of 18 years now of hurricane seasons with minumal damage to have to deal with. As the season comes to play in August I wonder what I will come home to when I return to Baja in the late fall, when it will be my turn to replace my palapa roof? This dumb luck of mine just has to run out someday. Oh que, here we go again............
