BajaBad - 10-5-2007 at 12:13 PM

lovebahia22 - 10-5-2007 at 12:39 PM

Called a 'Sea', but it is ocean. Mar de Cortez.

Salt water tho and lots of coast on the east side from Santa Rosalia all the way to Loreto, and then again from La Paz all the way to the tip.

Nice driving and great vistas.

lovebahia22 - 10-5-2007 at 01:20 PM

no its not an ocean
because the ocean is a large like huge body. there are 5 of these "areas". atlantic, pacific, indian, arctic, and Antartic.
the "sea of cortez" aka gulf of california is a gulf because it is partially inclosed by land.

jerry - 10-5-2007 at 01:33 PM

its a gulf on the pacific ocean and yes the desert grows right to the edge on the sea i have seen cactus with in a few feet

gnukid - 10-5-2007 at 01:35 PM

The points where the desert meet the sea are among the most amazing secret spots... shh shh

so why is the "gulf of tehuantepec" called a gulf when it isn't enclosed????

whatever you wanna call it, it is filled with OCEAN water.

lovebahia22 - 10-5-2007 at 03:33 PM

gulf: portion of an ocean or sea extending into the land; a partially land-locked sea; as, the gulf of Mexico

ocean:The great body of salt water that covers mores than two thirds of the surface of the earth, any of its five principal geographical divisions, the atlantic, Pacific, indian, arctic, and Antartic.

so when i (or you) swim in a bay that's not the ocean?

your logical explanation reminds me that a cul-de-sac is NOT a street?

lovebahia22 - 10-5-2007 at 03:43 PM

when i am swimming in a bay i know its a bay...i know its really nit picking.
but i see your point.

fdt - 10-5-2007 at 03:48 PM

O sea, no?

DENNIS - 10-5-2007 at 03:53 PM

You're killin me - so from now on, instead of "Baja... where the desert meets the sea", it's "Baja... where you go to introduce your cardon to your crabs" ?

Let's hope that doesn't catch on :yes::yes:

bajaguy - 10-7-2007 at 08:53 AM

Tenacious rascals they are! :O They can both stick to you like a wet T shirt.

BajaBad - 10-7-2007 at 08:59 AM

And I meant desert region on east side - where is Alex Trebeck when I need him? Even then wouldn't have been accurate though - so much for scientific sources.

Main desert regions are:

the Vizcaino (central) Desert to the west, which receives moisture-laden air from the Pacific Ocean

the San Felipe Desert, an arid region, to the east of the central mountain range.

Gone Baja Bezerk, that's my T-shirt.
