Called a 'Sea', but it is ocean. Mar de Cortez.

Salt water tho and lots of coast on the east side from Santa Rosalia all the way to Loreto, and then again from La Paz all the way to the tip.

Nice driving and great vistas.

no its not an ocean
because the ocean is a large like huge body. there are 5 of these "areas". atlantic, pacific, indian, arctic, and Antartic.
the "sea of cortez" aka gulf of california is a gulf because it is partially inclosed by land.

so why is the "gulf of tehuantepec" called a gulf when it isn't enclosed????

whatever you wanna call it, it is filled with OCEAN water.

gulf: portion of an ocean or sea extending into the land; a partially land-locked sea; as, the gulf of Mexico

ocean:The great body of salt water that covers mores than two thirds of the surface of the earth, any of its five principal geographical divisions, the atlantic, Pacific, indian, arctic, and Antartic.

so when i (or you) swim in a bay that's not the ocean?

your logical explanation reminds me that a cul-de-sac is NOT a street?
