Baja 1974--trip down the new highway

With the new highway completed, my in-laws took their camper down Baja in 1974----here are some scanned slides just for fun.

Don't know what happened to slide for the rest of the trip---they went all the way down----hope we find them and they did not find the shredder.

There were lots of cactus pictures, but they look the same, well the actual cactus has probably grown a little.

Wish they had taken a lot more pictures, but that is the beauty of digital today---can take all you want

What wonderful photos, Diane. You really struck it rich on this trip to visit the mother-in-law.

I see something which is especially interesting to me. The last photo in the San Bartolo photos shows an old building. That building was one of the first (and largest) built in the San Bartolo area.

It belongs to the family of my friends Jesus and Guicha (see photo of Jesus in other thread).... began as an old adobe structure with palapa roof, as in your picture. Over the years there was some actual brick applied, and the roof was replaced with tin. Although empty, it's still a beautiful structure.

Here are some recent photos of it, taken from the road which now runs behind and in front of the casa.

Nena, that is really interesting about the house in San Bartola--

Pompano---here is the picture they took of the eagle at the border----thank you for yours. I was quite sure there was really nothing around it at that time, but this picture does not show that----however, today it would be difficult to get this close. Also, I remember when the La Pintas were the El Presidente Hotels---don't remember when they changed.
