Mulege Entrance

bajadogs - 12-7-2007 at 10:03 AM

I almost drove right past the main entrance to Mulege. What the heck is this? Interesting priorities!

Where is the water for the moat going to come from??

Diver - 12-7-2007 at 10:17 AM

Will it be bright yellow, orange or blue ??
Or maybe all 3 ??
.

Bob H - 12-7-2007 at 11:07 AM

They are also in the process of constructing a "Malecon" along the north side of the river, near the east side of the bridge. Can you believe that?

just in case you NEED to stock up while driving to loreto or la paz:o:o

ELINVESTIG8R - 12-7-2007 at 11:21 AM

I think we are looking at the septic tank (see Bob H's photo) :o

Regarding Shark's photo, that is the sentry tower at the entrance to Mulege as all of Mulege becomes a gated community....makes us feel special. ;)

Bajagypsy - 12-7-2007 at 12:02 PM

Looks like a lot of work has been done on the entrance since we were there in September. I was wondering then what was being built.

Mulege's Tower of London

Mulegena - 12-7-2007 at 12:03 PM

Yes, Gentle Readers, our fair community has entered the 21st century in its own inimitable style, a hybrid of NeoDesert Gothic Moorish. This architectural theme is reflected in the new hospital, too.

Its all about cultural sensibilities... and yes, I'm just waiting for a aligator to crawl up out of the moat and bite somebody's tire!;D

Mulegena - 12-7-2007 at 12:11 PM

Tony. I like your gated community idea. Put in a parking lot across the highway from the Tecate store, build an overhead skyway and have little trams on the move all over town and down both sides of the river!!

Oh those silly Gringos. They have no concept of architecture. All they really want is a place with no dirt, kids or music. Bueno suerte.

bajadogs - 12-7-2007 at 12:27 PM

Maybe it won't be so in-your-face when they paint it.

Is this to say that Mulege is getting ready for Century 21?

And for that moat, Loreto Bay has some water to sell ya:lol:

I believe this would be considered the west entrance, off of HWY 1.

castaway$ - 12-7-2007 at 06:18 PM

Paula,
I don't know about your house, but the entrance gate monstrosity is what I was referring to....this thread is about that new construction. I hope your place isn't that ugly:lol:

Mike,
Wouldn't that bring on an infringement law suit from the 11/7 store out on the highway? :)

Paulina - 12-9-2007 at 12:58 AM

After seeing all this hoopa, my old mind flashes back to the stand that sold dried mangos. It was on the left hand side of the road that signaled we were almost to Mulege.

Hopefully this will be another example of the monument that went up, then fell down before the inbetween came to be.

P<*)))><

bajadogs - 12-9-2007 at 01:21 AM

I hope so too Paulina,
but, that's a lot of bricks and steel to clean up
