I know how you can tell, Larry.... kiss one. If it turns into a prince, they're frogs. If not, you get warts on your lips.
Truly... those are really good frogie or toad pictures.

Give em the eye membrane test - frogs have em - toads don't...pretty good bet if they're in water they're frogs and if not close to water, they're
toads -(H.S. dissection lesson from biology teacher -1973)

Pacific tree frog, Hyla regilla. Note the dark band extending from the snout, through the eye and ending near the foreleg junction. It is the only
species so marked among the Bufo, Rana, and Hyla of Baja Ca. pp76 in Grismers.bajadedom - 1-6-2008 at 08:26 PM
do tree frogs have the eye membrane??

Don't know if a nictitating membrane or eyelid is an indicator of Bufo or not. You may be thinking of the tympanum, or tympanic membrane, which is
present in frogs but not toads.bajadedom - 1-6-2008 at 08:47 PM
YEP - thats the one!! (named after tim schoap of the school band who used to get the hicccups from stage fright before halftime at the football games
on friday nite!!!)
