I have to agree with Dennis.

In Bahia I like fresh oysters off of the rocks, rinsed in the salt water, with a cerveza chaser.

In Tortugas, Abreojos or parts there about it's a can of sardines in tomato sauce and crackers, with a cerveza chaser.

In Punta Banda it's left over ceviche from El Paraiso that we bought the day before on our drive up from parts south. It has to be spread on crispy tortilla shells with mayo. You can guess the chaser.

If there's a restaurant near by, it's Chilaquiles.

If none of the above are available, then a Bloody Caesar fits the bill with almost all the food groups.

I'm a little hungry now.

Juevos con nopalitos work for me if a restaurant is an option. Otherwise, coffee, a banana, and oatmeal.

Not likely to find that next time at India Bonita, mi amigo....the rains (as you saw) made the road to her place impassable and her business has suffered terribley. We went in a couple weeks ago for breakfast and she wouldn't even give us a menu because she didn't have most of the items (no $$ to buy food!!!). So it was whatever she could put together and it was pretty sorry indeed...

Hopefully, now that the road has dried out, things will improve.

Huevos Rancheros. After 16 winters & driving clear to Cabo each winter & back to Loreto, I couldn't get enough of the Huevos Rancheros.!!!!!!! With occational visits to Del Barracho in Loreto for Eggs Benedict, with Bloody Mary's !!!!!!! I don't think there is a restaurant in Loreto that isn't "an experience"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bajabound2005 - 3-9-2008 at 08:17 PM

Just a grammatical point now...when you use an apostrophe it makes it POSSESSIVE OR A CONTRACTION; so it's (correct usage as a contraction ) Bloody Marys (PLURAL not possessive so no apostrophe)....and in this case I think if you changed the Y to an I (as we often do in English for the plural) it changes the name from Mary to Marie....

Hook - 3-9-2008 at 08:28 PM

Huevos Rancheros followed by machaca de res con verduras. Not in the same breakfast, mind you..................beer chaser; something light like a XX Lager or a Tecate.

windgrrl - 3-9-2008 at 08:38 PM

Thanks for pix fix, Sharkster!

What am I doing wrong when I try to post a photo...or do I have to resort to reading directions (like all the other times this has been answered) somewhere?!!

windgrrl - 3-9-2008 at 09:40 PM

Muchas gracias, Grover!

I'm make you and Senor SharK a virtual Baja breakfast tomorrow!

BornFisher - 3-9-2008 at 11:32 PM

Some stupid granola bar with an apple. But that`s on fishing days.
I`ll take the huevos rancheros or machaca con huevos. But really windgirl, those huevos in the pic, just don`t add up to great. You know you have good ones when the onions, tomatoes, and peppers are big and visible. That mixed up soup/sauce just is wrong in the Baja!! Needs a little more effort, try Anna Mar south of Rosarito Beach or down Lake Chapalla way! Them`s some HUEVOS!!!!!

bigmike - 3-10-2008 at 06:25 AM

Machca de Sur- southern style machca, dried and salted.
Kiki's in Ensenada behind Chevy dealership, great breakfast with the chicharon soup.

Russ - 3-10-2008 at 07:33 AM

Shari made a breakfast for me that was really special and using one of words that would describe this wonderful person, imaginative. Chilaquiles, fresh eggs from her chickens and fried goat cheese. Not imaginative, oh contrar (sp), Fresh fried tortilla chips in spaghetti sauce with lots of goodies chopped up in it makes an unbelievably good chilaquiles topped with eggs just the way I like them YUM! Add the fried goat cheese YUMMY! Fried goat cheese? Yes, it was the first time I had it fried after more than 15 years down here. She cut it in 3/8 thick pieces and browned it. I now fry goat cheese regularly instead of bacon. Thank you Shari!

oldlady - 3-10-2008 at 08:30 AM

Thry are all wonderful but....
My husband's Belgian waffles with beautiful Baja Strawberries and a side of some sporadically obtained Jimmy Dean is a lovely morning trip down memory lane.

Taco de Baja - 3-10-2008 at 08:36 AM

Bacon, egg, and lobster burritos with avocados, sour cream, salsa, cilantro, and jalapenos. Eggs cooked in bacon grease, of course...

Here's a picture of only the eggs and lobster version....To busy eating to ever take a picture of "the works" option :)

No, I had the Omelet Griego that day -- it, too, was fantastic. The chilaquiles were BB2005's leftovers, though they were great, too. I love Monique's; it's a great room.

I just tried this dish for the first time yesterday at a favorite haunt in L.A. It is now officially my favorite as well. If I'm cooking, it's usually a frittata made with whatever veggies are in the fridge (sauteed onions, mushrooms and chopped poblano chiles are popular), whatever fruit is on hand, coffee, and a Bloody Mary (not necessarily in that order).
