Eugenio - 8-3-2008 at 11:08 AM

Pretty simplistic - and short on specific solutions. It's all "someone else's" fault.

How did she get from Canada to Brazil? What was the carbon footprint from that? Could she have donated the cost of her plane ticket to the needy?

Could she have sent her speech by satellite? Well - of course not - she's special.

Nothing - except her own priorities - is preventing her from giving all of her wealth to whomever.

vgabndo - 8-3-2008 at 11:45 PM

And you Eugenio? I invite you to share with us the ways in which you are doing more for the planet then she is, and how this entitles you to be so critical of the actions of four 12 and 13 year olds back in 1992. You must REALLY be something special if you have a legitimate right to be so judgemental of HER.

Skeet/Loreto - 8-4-2008 at 02:35 AM

Vga:
I have no problem with the speech of the young Girl in 1992.
My concern is the information that she is attempting to get across in that speech.

Yes, there are still starving Children in many parts of the world, as there will always be as there are parents who will not/care not of their Children.

I do not beleive in all of the information presented by the various groups that try to Scare and Convince the Weaker of our Present Generation that the "Sky is Falling""for the sake of controlling through Fear.
The Sierra Club, The Whale Watchers, The Greenpeace Bunch, and may others who present information void of FACTS.

It does appear to me that this young Girl was "Brainwashed "a a very young Age.

You left out the part about how all the earths problems are because of Cal State Berkeley students. You're slipping
...............further.

mariposajim - 8-4-2008 at 05:10 AM

Yes, some need to be reminded of the old Native American adage: we borrow our world from our children and grandchildren.

Some also think it wise to leave our children mountains of financial debt, a polluted world, dwindling and overexploited resources, crumbling infrastructure, and never-ending war. Then these same "citizens" attack those of us who would like to leave our children a different world.

Yes, I realize that every scientist in the world other than the 3 on the payroll of exxon-mobil and the hannity/limbaugh propaganda crowd are all "brainwashed".

I, for one, hope that our children can find it in their hearts to forgive us for leaving them the world in such sad shape...

(expect PJC, Beercan, & MrBill to check in any time now)

And who has a greater vested interest in the future of the world, a 12 year old child with optimism and hope, or a bunch of cynical, burned out, old has beens with nothing left to contribute now that they've used more than their fair share?

GO BEARS!

I wonder who thought up the idea of finding a teenager to read the speech he/she wrote. Pretty slick and her delivery was excellent. Perhaps she wrote it but I would bet against it.

I don't think she said anything untrue and to the original poster's question:

"Can anyone say that the adults listened?"

The answer is Yes, of course. The green movement is alive and well and growing.

Sure there are some who deny the obvious but they're of the ilk that voted against desegregation, equal rights, etc. generations ago, and are the most afraid, and brainwashed.

Now!Now! Children:
Have you forgotten"Free Speech"??

I do wonder at the mind level of the Generation that cruise the Malls all day with their Ipod, never observing what is going on around them,so caught up in Tatoos, Piercing, Nudity, Sex, DOPE, and listening to the Likes of Ward Churchill a Typical Liberal College Prof.!!!

Texas--Not Arizona- But as a young Police Officer in Hollywood in the late 50's I did learn that the most Physical, Mental, Degenerate People in the World Lived in and around Hollywood! An then when I was transferred to South Central, I found it a much better place to work, but I would bet that you would not last in Either place very Long with your inabilities to see what goes on around you.

Comon- Start Thinking instead of Reacting-Other people have different Ideas than you!! Are you the only RIGHT Person on this Board.

Skeet/Loreto - 8-4-2008 at 12:45 PM

Is that Not what you are Preaching???

vgabndo - 8-4-2008 at 01:24 PM

Tell me Skeet. Since I judge you think you have all the answers; how old is the cosmos? Your compatriots in the preaching business claim that it is less than 12,000 years; do you agree? I'm just curious to know how much credence I should give to your claim to know for sure that Hollywood in the 50's was the physical and moral low point ANY WHERE.:?::?::(

This is just one of your intolerant statements with which I take exception. I don't believe it makes a constructive addition to any dialog about a respectable courageous teen- aged activist.

I do wonder about the mind level of the over-the-hill, burned out, "know more than anyone else", living life in the past (I remember the way it was in the 50's), believe in Free Speech as long as its their own and not somebody else's, Generation that have nothing better to do than cruise the Internet Boards all day, never observing what is really going on around them, so caught up in tired old rhetoric, Beer, tatoos (from the military), Sex, DOPE (cigarettes and Viagra), and listening to the Likes of Limbaugh and Drudge and Hannity, typical right wing idiotic idealogues!!!

Cypress - 8-4-2008 at 02:01 PM

WOW!:biggrin:There're some hateful lil guys dinking around on this forum. Name callers, insulters! Nothing of interest, no debate, the usual "dime-a-dozen" psuedo intellectual clowns. Had a c-ckatiel that came up with more original sounds.

First: I have never tried to change ypour Minds with my Words!

As you Children always jump on the old Man because he beleives in "Faith Hope and Chairty!!

I belive in a Supreme Being! I do not believe I came from Apes.
Some of you Posters sure act like them !

As to Hollywood, for proof look up "Liz Renay", Bugsy Siegal, Candy Barr and The House Commitee on UnAmerican Activities of 1948.

I iDid not attack the Young Girl> . I took exception with the Words that she had been fed by a bunch of Eco-Nuts as they have been feeding so many with their False Stastements.

One such statement is as Follows: The Sea of Cortez is Ruined!! Vag Have you fished in the Sea of Cortez this Year???

It is Fantastic!! just like 20 years ago!!

Proves somebody Wrong?? You Children should take our Toys off this Board and go look for the Weak minded at the Malls.

Anyone who has posted more than once to this thread needs to get out of the house more.

You are trying to foist your agenda on people who have formed their own long ago.

Don't feed the trolls.

oxxo - 8-4-2008 at 04:44 PM

>First: I have never tried to change ypour Minds with my >Words!

And I'm not trying to change yours either.

>As you Children always jump on the old Man because he >beleives in "Faith Hope and Chairty!!

Uh? Who was talking about "Faith, Hope and Chairty!!"? No you believe in Limbaugh, Drudge, and Hannity. That's fine, believe whatever you want, just don't preach that ideology on the Nomads Board.

>I belive in a Supreme Being! I do not believe I came from >Apes.
>Some of you Posters sure act like them !

Ol' Skeeter Bug doesn't engage in name calling, no way, no how.

>As to Hollywood, for proof look up "Liz Renay", Bugsy >Siegal, Candy Barr and The House Commitee on >UnAmerican Activities of 1948.

Ohhhh, you mean the House Committee on Unamerican Activities chaired by that great patriot, Joe McCarthy? Gotcha! That explains where your're coming from. Thank God (yep the ol' Supreme Being herself) for people like Edward R. Murrow.

>I iDid not attack the Young Girl

"I did not have sixx with that woman, Ms Lewinsky":lol::lol:

> . I took exception with the
>Words that she had been fed by a bunch of Eco-Nuts as >they have been feeding so many with their False >Stastements.

There goes ol' Skeeter Bug again, back to his ol' name calling.

>One such statement is as Follows: The Sea of Cortez is >Ruined!!

Who said that? Give me a link please. Nobody said that on this thread or any other thread I searched on this Forum.

> Vag Have you fished in the Sea of Cortez this
>Year???
>It is Fantastic!! just like 20 years ago!!

I didn't fish the Sea of Cortez 20 years ago, but those I know who did, tell me it sucks today comparatively. I know the whale a turtle populations are way down from 20 years ago.

>Proves somebody Wrong??

I give up, YOU?

> You Children should take our Toys off this Board and go >look for the Weak minded at the Malls.

That won't be necessary, I can find plenty of weak minded right here on this Board.

bigeye - 8-4-2008 at 06:01 PM
