Topless in Los Cabos / Baja California

evebabe - 8-25-2008 at 02:36 PM

My husband and I are planning a trip to Baja California & Los Cabos. Are there any beaches and pools where I can go topless?

bbbait - 8-25-2008 at 02:41 PM

I am sure I may be corrected by some of you, but to the best of my knowledge...there is no law in Baja that specifically states that a woman may not sunbathe topless. And, as I recall, there are several beachfront resorts where topless is encouraged. Perhaps not in the family style resorts.
I personally have seen some topless activity in some La Paz resorts, including my wife. In other areas, even total nudity has been tolerated.

Martyman - 8-25-2008 at 03:25 PM

Mexicanos do not go for the nude bathing scene. If you find a lonely beach you can make it your own and do your own thang mama. It is not like Spain or France.

Barry A. - 8-25-2008 at 03:29 PM

Many years ago, I saw a naked couple chased out of their camp on the beach by machete-wielding vaqueros who were camped nearby with their families ---------not too sure how "tolerant" the local folks are lately-------but maybe more liberal now.

But I don't know of any specific pools or beaches in Baja where it is common practice to go topless. If you are out in the boonies, there is nobody that will bother you and skinny-dipping is practiced by many, including me.

Just use common sense, and you will be fine.

Barry

bajajudy - 8-25-2008 at 04:29 PM

There is a clothing optional resort called Desire........enough said.

The above link is very dated. I dont think that Twin Dolphin(hotel razed and major construction going on) nor the Westin(once again construction and homes being bullt at El Dorado where the golf course once was) beaches would be private now. I do think that San Pedro might be an option.

cabobaja - 8-25-2008 at 04:44 PM

You can come to the beaches in Elias Calles or alittle south. No problem as you and your husband will probably be the only bodies on the beach for miles in either direction.

Was at Los Cerritos Sunday before last with the wife and kids and two women who appeared to be in their early, middle 30's were sitting 10 yds from us with no tops. The wife told me to go swim with the boys and cool off. I did!

capt. mike - 8-25-2008 at 05:32 PM

Interesting thread.... started by a nudie.. errrr... I mean newbie. I remember the Diamond Eden in Nopolo (Loreto) that had the clothing optional beach area with a bar and hot tub, several years ago, now torn down. It got crazy there at night when all of the guys that played golf (for free) all day and got drunk and chased the girls out of the hot tub and around the bar area. It was hilarious to watch (this was all inclusive at that time, including full bar drinks).
Even though my name is Bob, I ordered so many Gordon's gin drinks over the three night period we were there, that the bartenders were calling me "Senior Gor-don"... we had a blast.
Thanks Capt. Mike for bringing back the memories of this place. Bob H

It would seem ill advised to provide you the location without some degree of investigation...please post photo of how you plan to be on the beach.

If you don't already have a nice even tan from getting sun these last few months, you may wish to start in a tanning salon or on my patio.

In 1989 I stopped by the Solmar hotel and walked down to the beach with camera in hand and as I crested the over the sand at the beach a lovely young woman topless was turning over. I was caught by surprise and never turned my camera on and slowly backed away not wanting to disturb her.

Letting it hang out?

Lee - 8-26-2008 at 06:02 PM

I'll repeat something that has been written.

MX is a Catholic country and Catholic's frown on nudity. Well, the men like it but not in front of the family.

Public nudity in this culture is offensive.

Discretion is advised. Be aware of people around you. Secluded beaches are no problems. You don't want a gawking public watching your every move.

bajaguy - 8-26-2008 at 06:53 PM

Evebabe....... and as usual, we need a complete trip report with GPS coordinatea AND photos!!!!.......

Skeet/Loreto - 8-27-2008 at 03:02 AM

In the Year of 1970 I would depart San Felipe Airstrip head South and in a very short time come up on a large Group of "Nekid" Folks playing Volley Ball on the Beach.

As the years went by, the group got larger and seem to know my Aeroplane. Finally I would do a couple of "Turns about a Point". Wave and head South.

On first arriving in Loreto{Prior to the opening of the road} Girls did not wear shorts, kept their Heads covered when going to the Misson, and did not show Cleavage!

Opening of the Road, Telephones, and TV's sure has changed Loreto!!

Loretana - 8-27-2008 at 07:49 AM

Evebabe,

To quote Lee, "Public nudity in this culture is offensive"

I ran around the beach in a string bikini a few years back, and I experienced nothing but leering, hissing, and nasty comments I had never heard in spanish before!

Don't ruin your vacation for the sake of showing your tetas to folks who will misunderstand your intentions........

whatever they may be...:dudette:

In the hot springs of my wife's tierra[/i, Otomi women regularly bathe topless (but always with a long skirt). Men bathe nude. It's no big deal there or among other indigenous groups. Only mainstream mestizos are uptight about it.

Topless in Los Cabos / Baja California

evebabe - 9-1-2008 at 02:38 PM

Thanks to the serious advices. I guess the other posters did have a good time but that's okay. This is an all American board after all. Who am I to judge? To each its own, live and let live. That's why I asked whether there were beaches or pools where topless sunbathing is allowed. In Europe such a question would be unnecessary. Topless or not would not be an issue. I guess that everyone is more used to it. Women of all ages can be topless on the beach or other sunbathing areas but they can also wear a bathing suit in one piece or wear a bikini. Sometimes I wear a bikini, sometimes a bathing suit, sometimes I leave the top off. It all depends on the situation. I don't want to offend anyone. Just as I dress to the occasion and situation in general. Anyway, I will be going over to Baja to judge the situation, topless or not!

I have no idea what is meant by the remarks about a minnow. I only know minnow as a fish. Must be our cultural differences. Thanks again to the serious posters and I leave you nomads with your own talks and discussions and what you consider as humor I guess. So Goodbye and no hasta la vista, if that's what the last poster was suggesting?

What no pictures?

You should really think about keeping your shirt on the whole time as your thin skin will be damaged by the sun.

Baja is for fun people, some qualify, some snot.

Bajafun777 - 9-1-2008 at 10:28 PM

Evebebe, I have seen a number of topless women on beaches in baja like in San Felipe, Loreto, Rosarito (yea Rosarito), and even some beaches around Ensenada. I have stayed at a beach house in San Felipe on numerous holidays and woke up to walk out to the beach and find females and some males sleeping in the nude, etc. It was a distance from town at this beach I was at. Now, only once did I see any issues taken with it by police who just told them to get dressed, no fines or arrests. Parts of Cancun and Playa Carmen also seem to turn the other way and permit this even at some of the resorts. The resorts were not family resorts, so it may have been the reason but the beaches seems to be ok if mostly away from others. Same thing at several beaches in California some allow so don't. I have also seen women wear pasties covering the nipples and nobody said or did anythig at a family resort in baja. So, different strokes for different folks and if you google nude/adult resorts you will find several in Mexico. Mexico closes it eyes to a number of things that the Catholic religion does not approve of and it sure the hell is more than a simple thing like being topless on a beach. Sort of like a mixed box of chocolates you never know what your going to get, ah life is so good and exciting to worry about such a trifle thing like being topless on a beach, pool, or balcony. Evebebe nothing wrong with bearing what God gave you to bear and if it makes you happy nothing wrong with it as it harms nobody. I have never been afraid or offended by women being topless and I hope I never get that way as I would have to end my dumb life right then. You go girl and just be aware of your surroundings if your going with others have others take turns looking out to allow your tan in those covered places. Last year in Playa del Carmen there were many topless women at the beach. No big deal. They even got up to play paddle ball. They were not shy at all.

I haven't seen the same in Cabo except at the mar de cortez hotel after a late night of drinking.
