Great photos sunman....we just got back from a crazy great day in San Hipolito, boogie boarding, watching the kids surf in front of tita & bimbos house, eating fish tacos con muchos tecates....so it was fun to see the pics of the road. NIce to see Yessica is a church going girl. Miss you guys.

By the way, we went to look at a very cool house for sale there...3 bedroom, block house on an enormous lot, killer view...$35 G's. It would be a terrific B&B or fishermen's lodge type deal.

Desertsurfergal - 9-10-2008 at 07:08 PM

Beautiful pictures. Nice getting the surf to yourself!!! I hooted for ya!!! We hope to make the trip south soon. Just picked up a new noserider and looking forward to empty waves myself.

Nice Pix ---thanks. Looks like you had a good time.

Don't think anyone who goes near San Roque comes away with a few pix of the church----good thing as parts of the roof appear to be giving way.

Thanks for sharing the pix. If you return to BA, stop by and say hello sometime.

Diane and John

Great photos. I liked them all, but the one with the cactus raising it's arms in salutation to the rainbow was great.

Great photos!
It looks like you had a nice mix of weather.
I'm not sure why CaboRon is asking you to reduce the size of the photos, the large format is nice.

Skipjack Joe - 9-11-2008 at 04:34 PM

Gosh, I enjoyed this report!

Your setup looks so much like mine I pretended it was my vacation.

I'll bet I know where this lighthouse is. It's at that point of land just north of San Hippolito. We were there last summer. The wind was blowing so hard I had to park my camper behind the large square concrete base of the lighthouse. It took a lot of adjusting to find the optimal spot where the wind was being totally blocked. That had to be the windiest night of the entire trip.

The picture of the wife in the doorway must be the opening to that abadoned church at San Roque. But a lot of nomads would recognize that. Asuncion is getting a lot more gringo traffic these days.

Nice photos.

I vote for the larger photo format too.

jodiego - 9-12-2008 at 12:55 PM

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. Just wondering how the pop top holds up on a reeeeally windy day/night? Does it keep you awake?

It is made of very dense canvas, no rattle or flap. Heavy gusts sometimes cause the whole truck to rock a little, which i actually kind of like.

woody with a view - 9-12-2008 at 02:39 PM

reminds me of a bumper sticker.....if this truck is rockin', don't bother knockin'.

:light:

Is that a Tundra short bed? Sure looks like it in the one picture.

It's got a 6' bed, vice the 5 footer. Guess it would be considered a long bed for a double cab but not a true long bed (8 footer). No problems garaging when camper is off, which is rare.

Where is that church located?

San Roque, 6 miles north of Asuncion. My buddy and I are considering buying it on our next trip and turning it into a ladies bar. I've already got Tab Benoit and Joe Bonamassa booked for our opening weekend.

fdt - 9-14-2008 at 09:58 AM

Great pictures, I love this one. Perfect size also.
