Heading out on the bay towards San Martin Island in the early morning, looking back at the Old Mill / Dock.
BajaGringo - 12-13-2008 at 04:24 PM
Early morning sun on the bay with our work crew. We are fixing up an old fish shack on the Island that belongs to a friend.
BajaGringo - 12-13-2008 at 04:25 PM
Approaching the island, you can see the small lighthouse visible from shore at night.

Sunset behind the sleeping coastal volcano's at day's end as we ease back into the bay towards port. This is a moment that I cherish every single
trip. Never exactly the same but always very special...

BajaGringo--nice location! What about water...desal? Is the island sharky like around the mainland volcanoes?BajaGringo - 12-13-2008 at 05:05 PM
I know Dennis - the development is new and I am sure in time we will see more green. We bought two lots, one just for Cristina and her gardens.
Our water is trucked in. There are sharks in the area and a few great whites have been seen on the west side of the island, which tends to keep the
divers on the east side.Iflyfish - 12-13-2008 at 05:58 PM
That is amazing! What a life! A real slice of paradise, thanks so much for sharing this with us. I hope you will share the progress on the place with
us.
Iflyfishbajaandy - 12-13-2008 at 06:05 PM
Sweet photos. That's looks awesome. How long does it take to get out there?BajaGringo - 12-13-2008 at 07:04 PM
From the main highway through town it is about a 20-25 minute drive off-pavement. Sometimes you fall in love with a place for reasons only you
appreciate. I guess others see what we did too and that probably explains why several of my friends have bought there since we did.
The boat ride out to the island in front of us is about 15 minutes from shore or 60 minutes from the Old Mill inside the bay.

BajaGringo,
we rode out to your beach as we were riding to the point on the north side of the Bay last summer on our quads from Pabellon Campground. What a great
spot you have there.
Good luck with your project.
When does the slab get poured?
What type of material will the walls be?
BWBajaGringo - 12-13-2008 at 07:21 PM
Foundation is all poured and we built the floor level up about 3 feet off the ground. Walls will all be cinder-block, not the common cement block sold
down here. Outside of the house will be sandstone mixed in with local rock.BajaWarrior - 12-13-2008 at 07:27 PM
Your moving right along then!BigWooo - 12-13-2008 at 08:46 PM
Beautiful. I love the remoteness. I bet it gets windy there big time.Skipjack Joe - 12-13-2008 at 09:25 PM
Looks as though you've found your garden of eden. I can sense the anticipation and excitement. Good for you!Gaucho - 12-14-2008 at 01:30 AM
Wow, what a great spot BG. How warm does the water get there in the summer?LOSARIPES - 12-14-2008 at 03:46 AM

Years ago my brother and I traveled to Gonzaga Bay. We met wonderful people there who had converted old 8' wide Ricky Ricardo trailers into perminant
residences. Their power was 12 volt solar and they used a sand spike to draw in sea water thru the sand. Once a week a truck delivered sweet water to
them in a 50 gallon drum. They used the brackish water for most of their tasks and used the sweet water for drinking etc. Nice set up, don't know if
you could do the same or not, they were on the beach. I was impressed with their set up.

I never get tired of looking at this sunset...

Here is another view of the volcano cinder cones along the coast taken as we left the bay out to the open sea. Our place is just to the north.
fishbuck - 12-15-2008 at 04:16 PM
I'll be down next week. I'll be watching your project with keen interest. I figure it's about a 15 minute drive from my lots.BajaGringo - 12-15-2008 at 04:41 PM
Well then you need to come over and share a Cadillac Margarita neighbor...
