TIJUANA — Two U.S. Navy enlisted men face charges of attempted homicide after being accused of attacking two prostitutes and a hotel security employee early Thursday in the city's Zona Norte.

The Baja California Attorney General's Office on Friday identified the suspects as Joshua Phillip Docker and Jarret Christopher Monzingo.

A spokesman for the Navy Region Southwest in San Diego confirmed that two sailors had been arrested in the early morning incident. He could not confirm their names, but said one was assigned to a fleet logistics support squadron based at North Island, while the other had until recently been in SEAL training in Coronado.

Both men refused to identify themselves to U.S. reporters Friday afternoon at the Baja California Attorney General's Office.

According to state investigators, the incident broke out at a hotel in the city's Zona Norte, where the two men had been in the company of two prostitutes.

According to municipal police, one of the women was choked, while the other woman and the hotel employee both suffered stab wounds. Municipal police reported that both sailors were in possession of blood-stained knives at the time of their arrest.

The Navy requires that junior personnel have written permission when traveling to Mexico, while senior staff are required to verbally inform their superiors, said Brian O'Rourke, spokesman for Navy Region Southwest.

I'm sure they were just having lunch or something like that. These wayward women were in the company of saviors so I assume they were in the process of being saved.
Jeezo...What a wonderful world.

The fact that neither man would identify themselves to U.S. reporters makes me feel like they were not wrongfully arrested.

... and probably didn't have the required "pass" from their commander. They must have thought they were still in Iraq or something.

BajaGringo - 2-7-2009 at 07:24 PM

I am sure this is just a case of the "girls" trumping up some charges hoping that Uncle Sam will pay a big bribe to make this all go away. Just like those poor guys in Los Agodones...

Diver - 2-7-2009 at 09:08 PM

I think it was most likely a disagreement over the current exchange rate.
They were trying to get 14.5 to 1 !!

BajaGringo - 2-7-2009 at 10:51 PM

C'mon folks.....:wow::wow:

Sounds like the sailors were up to no good....and the hookers get blamed????

If two sailors were knifed by a peeed off Mexican pimp, you would be all over this story with more of the "those damned Mexicans" attitude.

I appreciate the nature of risk involved with hookers and johns, but the replies here seem to make a joke out of it all...

woody with a view - 2-9-2009 at 06:25 PM

you're right.

it's all fun and laughs until it's someone you know who gets killed. the pricks will never escape the "system". as it should be....

I made my comments "tongue in cheek" based on the other thread last week about the two guys in Los Condones, I mean Los Algodones.

I agree that it sounds like these sailors were in the wrong and no harm intended towards the girls involved.

Has anybody heard anything more on this???

fishbuck - 2-9-2009 at 07:45 PM

The girls in TJ can be a little tough to work with sometimes. They want to get paid but don't necessarily want to deliver to your statisfaction. Or more specifically may not want to accept "full" delivery and it may turn into a little wrestling match with them.
It does help if you can speak a little spanish and discuss that before you hand over the money which they will ask for up front.
Don't get drunk first. Drink after. And don't rough the girls up. It not that much money.
Just go find another and try again. Some of them are very nice.

Two U.S. sailors have been charged with the murder of a prostitute and the attempted murder of another in Tijuana.

Mexican state prosecutors say witnesses and a hotel camera place the two men at the same hotel where a 19-year-old prostitute was smothered on Jan. 17.

On Feb. 4, prosecutors say, police found the men in a bloodstained hotel room with a prostitute and a hotel employee, both of whom had suffered stab wounds.

The sailors were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. Authorities say they later found evidence linking them to the January killing.

A U.S. Navy statement said Jarrett C. Monzingo, 22., and Joshua Dockery, 27, active-duty petty officers assigned to the San Diego area, face murder and attempted-murder charges in the death of a Mexican citizen and are being held at La Mesa Prison in Tijuana.

The statement does not elaborate on the alleged crime but says the Navy has hired Mexican lawyers to represent the petty officers.

The arrests come six weeks after top Navy and Marine Corps commanders ordered more restrictions for service members who want to visit Mexico.

These guys are in deep stuff. Unfortunatly for them, they're guilty untill proven innocent.
Too bad for us that we have to form our conclusions with who knows how little fact. We'll never know.

A prostitute in Tijuana says she has no idea why she and her sister, also a prostitute, were attacked by two men they had just had sex with, according to a published report.

"They didn't give us any reason to mistrust them," the 24-year-old woman told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Two U.S. sailors have been charged with the murder and the attempted murder of the prostitutes in Tijuana.

Mexican state prosecutors say witnesses and a hotel camera place the two men at the same hotel where the 19-year-old prostitute was smothered on Jan. 17.

On Feb. 4, prosecutors say, police found the men in a bloodstained hotel room with the sisters, both of whom had suffered stab wounds.

The woman told the paper that one of the men made the arrangements. "He wanted us to be in the same room, but I told them that we were sisters and we didn't work that way," said said.

After having sex with the man, she told the paper that she heard a noise coming from the next room where her sister was. When she asked what happened, the man pulled out a knife and started stabbing her, she said.

"The hotel employee came into the room to help me, and I was able to run and lock myself in another room until the police came," she told the paper. Later, she said saw her sister sprawled unconscious.

The sailors were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. Authorities say they later found evidence linking them to the January killing.

"The sisters are among 1,950 sex workers authorized by the city to work in two areas, called zonas de tolerancia, authorities said. "

... who says there isn't economic growth potential for TJ? I was watching an episode of COPS the other night where a guy bargained a "lady" down to $7 for a sex act. That's almost 100 pesos!

OK, as we do not know all the facts of what happened we do all know that most prostitutes are single mothers that had husbands or boyfriends run off and leave them with no means to support themselves or the kids. So, being that finding jobs in Mexico for women are tough and unless they have some schooling or very pretty even tougher. Even then the pay is not really enough to support one, so to even think about 2 or more they can very easily end up in a life of prostitution. Does not mean that they really wanted this to be their way of life but it becomes it.

Some of these women are from further down South and come up to border town areas to work in strip joints/prostitution jobs to get money quickly to return back to school with money to complete school or to take money back home to care for mother, father and their children with what they make in 3 or 4 months runs. Have a friend that has a buddy that runs a strip joint in Mexicali but will not name it to protect the innocent, well to protect the connection to the buddy. They actually sign on as contracts that pay their way to border city and a place to stay for their services and a split of their tips and sex money in back room areas as payoff to contracts for 3 month runs.

It is what it is and it is dangerous and to think of some of the lowlifes that these women must have sixx with in order to live is tough. When your out partying always tip well to the women dancers, as the life is tough and if you looking for love stay out of these places (Your their stimulate ). These women will never love any client, only use them like they are being used. Very dangerous work and in areas where life can be so cheap and those killed forgotten quickly.

No angel in my going to the strip joints with buddies to drink and blow off steam (choir practice) but anyone involving themselves in prostitution sex might as well take a gun put a bullet in it spin it and enjoy the exciting fun. The Mau Mau in Mexicali just a few months back had 14 women that showed positive for HIV. Take proper care of yourself if you participate and even use condoms iit s no insurance of not getting HIV. Should make any male think twice but married men are also risking their wives, that I would bet do not know of their side action that can give them the gift that kills. Not wanting to preach but when we were younger and played the game no such thing as HIV and condoms would usually keep you out of trouble. Just too dang dangerous out there nowand not just with HIV but setup robberies, etc. Just for the record I have another friend that is police officer in Las Vegas and they get a lot of female and yes even males (Yuck) prostituting for money during big holidays for school money or some housewives for extra side money (now that ain't right husbands shouldn't be so cheap). Oh, the sailors if they did injure these women as alleged should be in prison. Later------ bajafun777

Woooosh - 2-15-2009 at 08:24 PM

There is safety for women and customers by working for places like your friends- a strip club with on-site places to do their business. The street hookers in TJ that work with hotels are a whole other thing- as are the men who hire them.

The Gull - 2-15-2009 at 08:28 PM

It seems just a simple case that the two girls did not enjoy the seamen.

Las Vegas

bajaguy - 2-15-2009 at 08:29 PM

Somebody mention Las Vegas????

Whew, living large in Vegas

A few look like soccer moms, a few like soccer dads.

bajamedic - 2-15-2009 at 09:58 PM

To The Gull, I don't think they caught the joke.

Bajafun777 - 2-15-2009 at 10:06 PM

I bet they had a few of these respected ones that have lives in other States that would make you say nooooo way not them. The "Johns" were not shown as they have not been convicted of anything yet and unless someone is wired to show the agreement of payment for sex then pretty hard to prove. Probably just Judges looking to do something while the jury is in deliberation on the cases in their courts anyway, along with the attorneys. OK, How Come Attorneys and Prostitutes are very similar??? Come on think about it, I know a few of you have it right on the tip of your tongues---------------------------------------------------------------------------- soooooo--- The answer is "They both will assume any position for the right amount of money!!" I know Dennis and Gull liked that one, huh??? Later---bajafun777
