Boys will be boys
Two sailors face attempted homicide charges in Tijuana
By Sandra Dibble
Union-Tribune Staff Writer
4:50 p.m. February 6, 2009
TIJUANA — Two U.S. Navy enlisted men face charges of attempted homicide after being accused of attacking two prostitutes and a hotel security employee
early Thursday in the city's Zona Norte.
The Baja California Attorney General's Office on Friday identified the suspects as Joshua Phillip Docker and Jarret Christopher Monzingo.
A spokesman for the Navy Region Southwest in San Diego confirmed that two sailors had been arrested in the early morning incident. He could not
confirm their names, but said one was assigned to a fleet logistics support squadron based at North Island, while the other had until recently been in
SEAL training in Coronado.
Both men refused to identify themselves to U.S. reporters Friday afternoon at the Baja California Attorney General's Office.
According to state investigators, the incident broke out at a hotel in the city's Zona Norte, where the two men had been in the company of two
prostitutes.
According to municipal police, one of the women was choked, while the other woman and the hotel employee both suffered stab wounds. Municipal police
reported that both sailors were in possession of blood-stained knives at the time of their arrest.
The Navy requires that junior personnel have written permission when traveling to Mexico, while senior staff are required to verbally inform their
superiors, said Brian O'Rourke, spokesman for Navy Region Southwest.

I'm sure they were just having lunch or something like that. These wayward women were in the company of saviors so I assume they were in the process
of being saved.
Jeezo...What a wonderful world.

The fact that neither man would identify themselves to U.S. reporters makes me feel like they were not wrongfully arrested.

... and probably didn't have the required "pass" from their commander. They must have thought they were still in Iraq or something.

I am sure this is just a case of the "girls" trumping up some charges hoping that Uncle Sam will pay a big bribe to make this all go away. Just like
those poor guys in Los Agodones...

I think it was most likely a disagreement over the current exchange rate.
They were trying to get 14.5 to 1 !!

C'mon folks.....
Sounds like the sailors were up to no good....and the hookers get blamed????
If two sailors were knifed by a peeed off Mexican pimp, you would be all over this story with more of the "those damned Mexicans" attitude.
I appreciate the nature of risk involved with hookers and johns, but the replies here seem to make a joke out of it all...

I made my comments "tongue in cheek" based on the other thread last week about the two guys in Los Condones, I mean Los Algodones.
I agree that it sounds like these sailors were in the wrong and no harm intended towards the girls involved.
Has anybody heard anything more on this???

The girls in TJ can be a little tough to work with sometimes. They want to get paid but don't necessarily want to deliver to your statisfaction. Or
more specifically may not want to accept "full" delivery and it may turn into a little wrestling match with them.
It does help if you can speak a little spanish and discuss that before you hand over the money which they will ask for up front.
Don't get drunk first. Drink after. And don't rough the girls up. It not that much money.
Just go find another and try again. Some of them are very nice.

Two U.S. sailors have been charged with the murder of a prostitute and the attempted murder of another in Tijuana.
Mexican state prosecutors say witnesses and a hotel camera place the two men at the same hotel where a 19-year-old prostitute was smothered on Jan.
17.
On Feb. 4, prosecutors say, police found the men in a bloodstained hotel room with a prostitute and a hotel employee, both of whom had suffered stab
wounds.
The sailors were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. Authorities say they later found evidence linking them to the January killing.
A U.S. Navy statement said Jarrett C. Monzingo, 22., and Joshua Dockery, 27, active-duty petty officers assigned to the San Diego area, face murder
and attempted-murder charges in the death of a Mexican citizen and are being held at La Mesa Prison in Tijuana.
The statement does not elaborate on the alleged crime but says the Navy has hired Mexican lawyers to represent the petty officers.
The arrests come six weeks after top Navy and Marine Corps commanders ordered more restrictions for service members who want to visit Mexico.

These guys are in deep stuff. Unfortunatly for them, they're guilty untill proven innocent.
Too bad for us that we have to form our conclusions with who knows how little fact. We'll never know.
