Mini Trip to Secret Beach near Asuncion

shari - 2-20-2009 at 12:17 PM

After a hard day at the rock pile, Juan wanted to relax for the afternoon at our secret beach a few miles from town. The weather was perfect, nice and warm, 12 knots of wind and sunny so we fired up the mesquite wood for a chicken BBQ and went for a lovey dip in the glittering sea.

This is me doing some yoga while Juan polishes his truck....I just love the view from down there!

this photo is for you David K and all you toyota lovers

then after some reading, a tecate and another dip we enjoyed the pollo asado and the sunset...the perfect ending for a wonderful mini trip.

Another reason I love living in baja sur....spectacular mini trips are possible any day of the week!

Isn't this actually called Thong Beach or Osoburro Beach.

Thanks for the Toyota photo... if you had said "this is for you David K" and put a photo of Juan in his bikini... well, that wouldn't be as much fun!:o

Are you prepared to hear from the anti beach driving crowd?;D

Looks like a fun time Shari! Wish that Elizabeth and I were there, too!

fishbuck - 2-20-2009 at 04:21 PM

Okay, as you can all see it's beach weather in Bahia Asuncion.
As you may know, I have an airplane scheduled to fly down to Guerrero Negro next weekend for whale watching. So if the weather stays the same it will be perfect.
I got a brand new medical certificate yesterday and the doctor said he's never seen a better specimin of a man in his whole career.
I will fly the plane tomorrow for about an hour.
So all I need is a few share expense passengers and the trip is on.
Perfect beach weather. I can't plan a better trip for you.

I am taking my son and my instructor. We will fly the local area for about an hour.
Why you want to go?

shari - 2-20-2009 at 07:58 PM

The water is getting cooler now...ya gasp a bit when you first dive in but your ankles dont get knumb which is when it gets dicey for me going swimming...so I figure it's about 68 degrees or so...nice for cooling off and boogie boarding but cold for snorkeling....halibut are starting to move into San roque beach now...yeeeehaw

BirdDog - 2-20-2009 at 10:06 PM

To bad to hear about the cold water. Most of it is still hard here.:)

Shari,

Nice beach. I like your pants. The rock in the background looks like a mix between Jabba the Hut and a rock fish with bulging eyeballs.

Thanks for sharing your day.

BMG, great shot. Thanks for the laugh.

I doubt that a single person was laughing in that photo.

Sure makes me miss L.A.

Paulina - 2-20-2009 at 11:27 PM

Me too. I really miss the hour or so it took to drive less than 20 miles home from work.

BajaGringo - 2-20-2009 at 11:53 PM

I remember doing that drive every day. That was a large part of what drove me to move south of the border...

jorgie - 2-21-2009 at 06:41 AM

BMG gives wonder to life .......and then there is Shari y Juan and their beach
and folks live that way, cannot understand why:no:

shari - 2-21-2009 at 07:44 AM

Thank you all..Paulina, I just knew YOU could appreciate my fashion statement...OK, I admit, I sneaked these pants out of one of the bags AwfulArt brought for the unfortunate folks...busted!
Weather continues to be fantastic all week...but our trip to the more remote Secret Beach must be postponed due to the arrival of BajadanD, Skipmac and Ibannie...so we will be forced to remain here to party with them.

I don't think I could do that any more.

Paulina - 2-21-2009 at 02:08 PM

"I don't think I could do that any more."

Do what? Wear flowery pants, see shapes in rocks, hang out on secret beaches, or bend yourself in half and twist around to take a level-right side up photo?

If it's the bendy-twisty part, me neither!

Shari--if we wine and dine you and Juan

BajaVida - 2-22-2009 at 06:25 PM

will you tell us where it is?

shari - 2-23-2009 at 08:41 AM

nahhhh...but when I saw the "Motown" in your location...well...you are a definate maybe to possibly be a candidate to wine and dine us...put on some motown and we'll see how well you funk...then we may consider revealing a clue as to where the SS may or may not be located.

we have the ultimate Baja Boombox

BajaVida - 2-23-2009 at 07:29 PM

hope we have some tunes you enjoy

2-tie-dye-4 - 2-24-2009 at 01:38 PM
