Evening Elephant Trees

DianaT - 3-25-2009 at 12:21 PM

Hope these are not too dark---were fine on my laptop, but as usual, dark on this ancient cafe monitor.

I Love Elephant trees---so different and such efficent survivors.

Will someone get that old lady off the road.:lol:

The second series of pix is way too faded or desaturated.
I like #3

Frank - 3-25-2009 at 01:54 PM

3rd pic down is my favorite. HDR?

castaway$ - 3-25-2009 at 02:01 PM

I like #3 also but #4 with the red hue is also very interesting.

Skipjack Joe - 3-25-2009 at 02:12 PM

I agree the third one in the series is your most successful.

Diane, it looks like you tried to make the images lighter by making the brightness adjustment in photoshop (or other software). Unfortunately that's what always happens. Whether you brighten and image or darken it the "luminosity" of the image starts to go. And you can't fix it by using the 'contrast' adjustment.

The way to accomplish what you are trying to do is to create luminosity masks and apply them over the captured image. I personally have never done it but I've seen the results and they're pretty impressive if done correctly. Here's a tutorial on how to do it:

Diane, You have a great eye,

Your photos are always enjoyable. I like 3 and 4 best in the first batch. Second batch diluted to much, Thank you for sharing with us,k:yes:

DianaT - 3-25-2009 at 04:14 PM

Thanks for the comments and thanks for the tip, Igor.

Think I may do away with the second series and just stick with the first group and look at them again when I am at home with my other computer.

Think I am beginning to like number 3 better---:lol:

So Diane, before everyone liked no. 3.... which one did you like best?
btw my vote also went to 3 and to the first series.

OK, my favorite WAS number 5---but after 14 hours on the road, I am too tired to argue.:lol:

Can't wait to get back and keep trying---have not got exactly what I was looking for--

Thanks Nancy---appreciate it. I think 5 is still my favorite---

I like number 6 only because everywhere I go to try and capture an idea or thought, there is this stalker who keeps taking pictures of me taking pictures!:yes:

What a beautiful shot!! I love the soft blue light and the magnificent shade on the tree. It's the light, always the light. There is something haunting about this tree and the light. Great shot.

I like 5 the best, with the detailed bark of the trees on the right.
I will ad one out of my selection.

Having a hell of a time adding the picture.

[Edited on 3-29-2009 by Leo]

Sorry, but I give up. The picture is down to 0 quality and still is too large.

Thanks for mentioning HDR. I had not idea what it was so I checked it out and it looks interesting---I want to learn more about it.

I would love to see your picture---and I am glad someone else likes #5. :-)

To post your picture it is easier to post it to Photobucket first---these are 800 pixels wide.

Then after you download to photobucket, copy the IMG tags under the photo ---- the last in the line of possible links.

Then paste the IMG tags into the text of your post here---it is much easier than trying to size down for here.

U2U if you need help

Thanks Diane for the encouragement and info on an alternate method.
I will try once more.
