Let's hope that some will learn the "If you bring it it... You can haul it out" way of camping and not leave trash, beer bottles and dirty diapers on

The photo shows just part of the Sta. Barbara project property line. The main entry road is indeed privatized and remains gated. Construction is
still proceeding on the development at Santa Barbara beach and has been underway for some time. I've talked to some of the builders and architects.
It's a done deal.
Here's some photos showing Santa Barbara Cove location and a couple others taken in 1973 and 2007. It didn't change much in all that time.
Now?....Break out the golf clubs!

Thanks for photos. Those beaches are among my favorite places eventhough they are where I learned about sting rays, I've had 2 lessons. Nothing
serious, except the pain.
I'm looking forward to the photos of the crowds.
This guy was about a foot off the beach in a few inches of water.

You might try this one.
Punta Terasa beach. Has excellent diving, fishing, beachcombing..and total privacy.
Only thing is..it's a long hard drive by 4x4 or about 35 miles by boat from Mulege.

Saturday morning in Coyote Bay

I took a short drive this morning from Coyote Bay camping beach to Santispac. Lot's of tourist traffic on the highway. Pickups pulliing trailers
with jetskies and fishing boats. Lots of small cars with camping gear on top, a few RV's, and lots of vans.
Santispac has only a very few stopping there. Maybe because of the recent changes there. The Bonifil ejido has an entrance fee station and a gate of
sorts, but it seems to be always open. I counted only 2 RV's along the main beach so far and a scattering of tents, but a few more down in the lagoon
beach.
Popular Cocos Beach is about 2/3 full already..and most of the palapas are already taken. Will be full by later today or tomorrow for sure. After
that it will be second row only.
Playa Escondido is about one-third-claimed now. A little tougher for some to get to..or maybe know about? It's 'hidden' y'know..
Burros Beach is getting a few large tents and pup tents nearest to Bertha's. Also some in the available palapas further down the beach, and some in
front. The area around Bertha's always is quite popular..volleyball games, bands, etc.
Playa Coyote is about 1/4 full as of noon today, but more people are arriving by the hour, so that will change by manana. This is a large and popular
camping beach also..but last year a policeman was 'molested'??..and this year may be less boisterous. Honest to God, that's what Manuel told

Mike, so far it's portable gensets. Can't say what the future may hold, though. If and when all this development actually happens, then one can
assume the power options will change. Right now, Conception Bay is still off-grid power..closest power lines are Mulege's micro tower to the north.
Not that far away as the crow flies...or a Comanche. And getting closer every year from the south.
There's been a lot of rumors circulating...but that's nothing extraordinary. I know that some are true..some are not.
The scuttlebutt has been around since the early 70's that power is coming to the Bay soon...soon..any day now. Meanwhile, I am on my 4th set of

This was us at Coyote May 1999. One other camper and no one showed up the whole week to collect fees. I suspect now that the guy was in Vegas spending
the Semana Santa funds!

OK, where is this? East side of Conception? I'm always looking for a nice private beach at the end of a long hard 4x4 trip. I've driven on the easy
side of Conception and never found a good camp and beach (lots of rocks) - this photo does not look like what I saw - where is it, por favor?

I don't know how you missed so many nice beaches, but here's some help for your next attempt.
Most are reachable by land, especially in your 4 x 4, but I've come across many 2x4's out there..pickup campers, vans, small motor homes, dune
buggies, rails, cycles, etc. There are some that are only boat accessible on the east coast. Good luck and have fun.

Pompano. What's the road like these days on the peninsula? Compared to l8 years ago when we 'started' to drive out there in our suburban, and
turned around. Guess we missed a trip to remember that winter!!!! My cousin couple years earlier did it with his 33' Airstream & GMC pickup
4X4.???????? His story was, "it wasn't too bad". But then again, he was the guy up in Oregon in the early 70's who drove his l940's era Greyhound
bus conversion with a 'pink elephants' head attached to the front grill piece to the top of a mountain on an old logging road, the 4X4's were having
problems reaching.

EASTER REPORT FROM THE BAY.
All beaches from Coyote to Santispac have crowds of campers and revelers, but not nearly as many as years past. The highway does seem to have very
heavy traffic at all times, however, so take it easy out there.
I would post some current pics, but unfortunately my camera 'went missing' from the Jeep when I was visiting some campers.
Rats...the replacement camera will not be here until April 24th. What's helpful for photo-withdrawal?

But I have been having problems with that camera anyway... a Nikon Coolpix 4300. They don't take well to hitting the sidewalk or my marble floor.
The last couple of weeks I have had to 'intimidate' it to get it working.

The winds have been very high the last few days, and that has greatly curtailed the waterfun enjoyment of the Easter visitors. Whitecaps in the
afternoon..and even some nights...have been the norm.
A real bummer when your tent starts billowing and flapping around. That snapping sound drives you nuts at 2:00 a.m. Sand in the margaritas. Sand in
the beer. Sand in the menudo.

I was so looking forward to your pics! Glad you have a replacement on its way.
BTW, I recently took out a separate personal insurance policy for my camera equipment. I was quite surprised at how cheap it is.
And one very good feature of the policy is that what happens does not matter---it walked away (no need for a police theft report) it decided to go
swimming with the whales, it met up with concrete or marble, etc. Only thing that is not covered is if you intentionally damage it.
Another nomad used sucessfully used his insurance after his quite expensive camera and lens went swimming in Baja.
So, now I hope someone else will post the pictures of those crowds---will make me once again be really happy we are located where we are.

A Monday morning observation and update on Easter in the Bay.
This year was unusually quiet and peaceful in the Bay. No firework bombs, just the pretty..and silent...displays. No loud til dawn music, etc. All
in all, pretty tame. Unfortunately, there were some highway accidents and my deep sympathies for those families involved.
The beaches are fast emptying now. The crowds of Easter vacationers are either back home, on the road, or packing up the camp. Life in the Bay is
returning to it's normal pace again.
Coyote camping beach is almost deserted again. Cocos was about emptied last night. Burros Beach tenters and RVers have gone. Playa Escondido had a
few left..but I think they are regulars. Santispac looks a little occupied yet, but the vast bunch have left.
My camera is gone and so I will post a photo I have in my files that looks most like this morning in the Bay.
