Sounds scary but, you did a great job staying firm & not giving in.fishingmako - 4-6-2009 at 01:57 PM
I agree, this is what we all have to do is hang in there, I realize it is easier said than done, but if we continue to call them on their shake down,
we all will be much further ahead of the game, you can not be scared, because if you are, they pick upon it.
Good job, really good job, I'm proud of you.BajaGeoff - 4-6-2009 at 02:14 PM
Since you got his name, I would report it to the Secretary of Tourism. You can call their Tijuana office at 1-888-775-2417
Their website states:
If you feel that any public official or law enforcement authority has mistreated you, you can file a complaint. Make sure to get the persons name,
agency, badge or patrol car number, as well as place and time of the incident and report it immediately to our Tourist Assistance Hotline 078.
Not sure if anything will come out of it, but it can't hurt to try....

Good for you to stand your ground! I am sure that it was scary and I commend you for putting up with his crap. If you can make the time, by all
means report the SOB! When you went to the station, did you pay the $40?Sharksbaja - 4-6-2009 at 03:28 PM
More bbuttcracks. I guess it's hard to shake basic training.tjBill - 4-6-2009 at 03:34 PM

A great Spanish instructor I once had explained a technique that was used when HE was a student at the University of Mexico, Mexico DF to fine-tune
pronunciation. They would have you hold a lighted candle a short distance from the mouth and say "pollo, pollo, pollo". If you did it right the
flame wouldn't waver.
OBVIOUSLY, that guy would fail.
I (more than once) have told a German friend of mine that was the reason he'd never get his Spanish right.
When holding an energetic conversation with a German, you need a Raincoat and Face-shield.
Maybe the guy was part German.Dave - 4-6-2009 at 03:46 PM

You could always threaten to have him and his family killed. Several months ago, a friend had two rosarito cops threaten to do the same thing while
they robbed him.
Stick it to "the Man"!

Excellent advice!!! This is the solution.......sindicaturaDENNIS - 4-8-2009 at 10:08 AM
Offer him "plata o plomo" and have him be your slave for the duration of his career. That will be about as effective as reporting it. Plausible
denial for a cop in Mexico has no bounds.ELINVESTIG8R - 4-8-2009 at 10:23 AM
Print this and have it with your registration and insurance papers so when you are pulled over they will see it. Also get the Tijuana and Ensenada
Sindicatura telephone numbers so you can call them from the scene of the stop if they want a mordida. The Ensenada Sindicatura is covered I think from
the first or second toll booth going south until you reach the Baja California Sur line. Tijuana is I think covered from Tijuana up to the first or
second toll booth going south. Someone in here should have more accurate information regarding the jurisdictions.
makana.gabriel - 4-8-2009 at 10:46 AM
Does anyone know if Sindicatura has any type of window or bumper stickers available? That would be a smart thing to have on your car.sancho - 4-8-2009 at 11:01 AM
Back in the day, there was no 'I'll follow you to
the station to pay the Muncipal Judge',
or the Mail in Tickets. I don't remember
anyone doing anything but pay the
Mordida. I'm 30 yrs. older so maybe I've
become less of a target. There was a guy
in the San Bernadino area, that sold
sindicatura decals for the windshild.
Never had any feedback as to their
effectiveness. The threat of the vehicle
being impounded and you can pick it
up the next day trick has worked on meVon - 4-9-2009 at 10:13 AM

.. or you could just be in legal compliance and take the dark tinting off. They started cracking down on dark tints last year. You might even have
started peeling the tint off in front of him yourself- I've heard that works.
None of the dark window tint the guys are waving at you near the border is legal.

The TJ Mayor said that the police carry knives to allow you to remove the tinting.
Anyone know how this is working out? dianaji - 4-9-2009 at 03:01 PM

google sindicatura stickerPhil S - 4-9-2009 at 05:58 PM
I did the google. Now i have a copy to take to my "print shop" and have them run it on paper that I can "peel off" and place on my rear window. Also
a small one to do the same & place on the corner of my drivers side windshield. We'll see how this works. Though I've never been stopped for
mordida in over 18 years of traveling the Baja's roads. (knock on wood)LaTijereta - 4-9-2009 at 08:09 PM
Has worked great for me.. Been on my vehicles now for 6 years.. No hassles
One time had a Federal Police right on my back bumper coming into Loreto, trying to read the sticker..
He went around me with a BIG smile on his face

He is right, you did admit to breaking the law.
Is it wrong to be subject of this controversy? I think you're not 100% in the right.shari - 4-14-2009 at 04:21 PM
Just an FYI here...in Asuncion a couple months ago the police were stopping all cars with tinted windows and letting us know that in 2 weeks they
would be impounding and fining cars who hadnt removed the tinted paper...we did...well I only did on one window....(I just put the other one down when
I go to town but I will get to the other one soon). So it is the same law all over mexico even in the small villages. Now the saliva thing is another
matter altogether...so gringos beware of this new law.TheColoradoDude - 4-14-2009 at 04:26 PM
Would someone care to explain how that sindicatura sticker works?
I mail 25 bux to someone in California and then I place sticker on car, then I have no worries? Say wha wah?
yo no comprendo!Bajahowodd - 4-14-2009 at 04:38 PM
I really don't know how anyone could fault the cops in the States for stopping people with darkly tinted windows, same in Baja. I have neighbors in
Orange County where you can absolutely not see a thing into their vehicles. Opaque. I really believe that the police should have some level of
assurance that there isn't someone sitting inside a tinted car brandishing a weapon. There are products available that will reflect UV rays and heat,
but are fairly transparent. I'm not a big fan of the cops, but in this case, I'm on their side.woody with a view - 4-14-2009 at 04:54 PM

yes! do you want my address????
the theory goes that every cop knows enough (maybe not the right phrase) to know what the sindicatura is. if he sees your sticker it probably sends a
shiver down his soft spine and he will troll somewhere else....
put this on the back of your ID. shrink it to fit.
Sindicatura del Gobierno Municipal
Tijuana (664)688-2810, 973-7770
Ensenada (646)617-1561, 617-2222
Mexicali (686)558-1600 x1661
tape it on the back and put a crease in the tape so the turd will feel it and turn it over. watch his expression change. this has worked for me last
time i was pulled over for my surfboard sticking out the truck bed 18"????? when the turd saw the back of the license he told me to follow him and he
literally peeled out around a corner way to fast for me to keep up, so i didn't.TheColoradoDude - 4-14-2009 at 05:25 PM
