Baja Nomad Tee Shirts

24baja - 4-9-2009 at 06:12 PM

Will the Tienda be selling anymore Nomad tee shirts or tank tops in XL or XXL? We would order if they become available.

thebajarunner - 4-9-2009 at 07:17 PM

I have an XL,
love it dearly,
might be persuaded to part with it for about $100 (US)
and, it comes with all those keen salsa stains from too many feeesh tacos.

ps. I think Doug is just teasing us by continuing to list this in tienda with the bright red "out of stock" memo

24baja - 4-9-2009 at 08:21 PM

ah Doug, could ya, would ya give a girl a break and get us some shirts.....and bajarunner, I like salsa stains, it they are mixed with a little bit of fish scales and cervesa....but $100 is just a bit too much for me, you'd have to add gold leaf....Connie:lol:

Looks like you were tooooo slow !:lol::lol:

DENNIS - 4-9-2009 at 08:57 PM

I made my own with a felt pen. I'm considering taking orders.

David K - 4-9-2009 at 10:53 PM

When something special about Baja becomes available... you need to get it fast!

My 'got baja?' hats were a limited run deal, and we mailed out hundreds of them and 'got baja?' stickers... Now, they are both all gone.

I think Doug didn't anticipate how popular his web site and t shirts would be... :light:

So, what's stopping you from ordering more inventory? You know you can more than cover the costs.

You asking me about that hats or asking Doug about the shirts?

The hats were for fun... a lot of work shipping them out and you can't ask too much dinero for a hat, IMO. So, not worth the effort to do again... and it made the couple hundred we sent out more special, I think.

Doug, well I have hounded him all I can... I told him to ask you guys to pre-pay so he has the financing to order the shirts again... All the mail-order companies do it ("allow 2-6 weeks for delivery" etc.) You send in your money, they know how many to make and have the money to make it... Also, you can trust Doug... he is a man of honor and honesty.

Anyway... I think you all who want shirts should send him the money... then he won't have any excuses for not ordering more... !!

Bajahowodd - 4-9-2009 at 11:50 PM

I like the pre-pay idea, David. No downside.

BajaNuts - 4-10-2009 at 12:14 PM

Maybe do a pre-paid order once a year or once every 2 years.

Wouldn't have to deal with it all year long and then some of us newbies can get one.....or 4!

Since we'll need one to wear now and another good one to wear later when the first one gets too trashed to wear out for a nice night on the town, I'd better order 6....

and I bet my neighbors, and fellow Baja travelers, would want a couple.....

and our other friends who just got back from Puerto Vallarta...

and Christmas presents for the family.........

(uh-ho....I'd better see if I can raise my credit card limit!)

Fred - 4-10-2009 at 12:43 PM

Pre-pay it is. Count me in.

David K - 4-10-2009 at 01:03 PM

DOUG... are you seeing this?:wow::coolup:

Bajahowodd - 4-10-2009 at 01:06 PM

There is another option. I realize Doug has certain proprietary rights. But would he be interested in a licensing agreement. I know of a few folks who make and sell tees. That would take all the hassle out of it. Just let the vendor do all the work and sell on the site.

It sometimes helps if we point him where to look!

Doug knows I am his biggest fan and want him to be successful... and it is in our interests as Nomads to help him keep this great forum alive and well... There are others, but none with so much going for it and an active host to keep it going!

Left to right, Nov. 2006: David K, BajaNomad, & BajaCactus at our Viva Baja Cactus dinner in Tijuana where we presented a surprised Doug with an award (Doug and I both have on Baja Nomad tee shirts):

24baja - 4-10-2009 at 02:04 PM

What a nice presentation, and plaque. There is no doubt that I enjoy this site and look forward to being part of it....Connie

(that's the Tienda page for the shirts)

u2u Doug for a mail address ... Understand that everyone who wants the Nomad shirts needs to do this within a couple weeks time for Doug to have the funds to do a minimum run of shirts. Otherwise, Doug will just have to tear up the checks.

BajaNuts - 4-11-2009 at 07:43 AM

so it's a go?

maybe Doug or DK could start another thread for

"Nomad t-shirts for sale! limited time offer"

with the necessary info and links?
Are prices the same and what about shipping?
THANKS!

David K - 4-11-2009 at 08:08 AM

Better wait until Doug reponds with an address or the 'word'!

But, all Nomads who want his nice shirts or want more... I think here is the place to voice your requests. I know I would like another, as it is only time before I spill some salsa on the one I have!:light:

BajaNuts - 4-11-2009 at 08:15 AM

I'm suprised noone commented on why I wanted 2 t-shirts...
one to wear for grubbies and one to keep clean for "a nice night out on the town".

Yep, that's the kind of area we live in, dressing up for a night out entails putting on a CLEAN t-shirt. ;)

805gregg - 4-11-2009 at 08:43 AM

I'll take a couple XL.

Bajafun777 - 4-12-2009 at 05:00 PM

Why not do it all pay pal and include shipping costs included from the zip code you are having them sent to. Pay pal would be the way to go when doing these or get orders and at a bajanomad event sell them to first come first served. I bet FDT knows someone in TJ that would make these T-shirts for a cost that would make it good for all concerned. I think that V-Neck T-shirts would sell better and makes it better when out and about for no tight neck heat rash happening. Just a thought and again however it needs to be done that makes it easiest for Doug is OK!! Again, a little checking with what is available in TJ for making these T-shirts is the way to go. FDT what is your take on this??? Doug maybe U2U FDT and talk about it, pencil it out and maybe both of you could see something happen that will make these T-shirts be produced at a pace to keep up and make some profits to help out the website, why not??? Just a thought. If I was through with all of my medical cutting and pasting I would go to Mexicali and name this tune in two notes!!! Later----bajafun777

Bajahowodd - 4-12-2009 at 05:06 PM

bajaguy - 4-12-2009 at 05:11 PM

mulegemichael - 4-12-2009 at 06:33 PM

24baja - 4-12-2009 at 06:39 PM

I would be willing to pick mine up in San Diego when we stop over nite on way down in May. Just Let me know. Connie

bajamikey - 4-12-2009 at 06:47 PM

2 xl

CaboRon - 4-12-2009 at 07:25 PM

You will never see your t-shirts .....

Bajahowodd - 4-12-2009 at 10:43 PM

As I mentioned in an earlier post, if Doug is too busy to get involved, why not farm it out to a contractor? As also noted, Ferna must have a bunch of contacts that would gladly get involved for a very reasonable price.

David K - 4-13-2009 at 08:45 AM

DOUG??? Ball is in your court amigo!

24baja - 4-14-2009 at 10:11 AM

Is this a dead topic? I hope not, Iwould really like a shirt. Connie

I'm stalling until Wednesday, when I have a chance to talk to one of the people that's helping me with this, and to find out where things stand currently. It's actually been "in process" (again) for a few weeks now.

The ball has been dropped a few times in the past too. I'll advise on where we're at when I have a chance. Feel free to bring it back to my attention as needed.

Thanks,
-
Doug

24baja - 4-14-2009 at 02:54 PM

Thanks Doug, I didn't mean to come off abrassive or demanding, I was just curious if things were moving forward. I will await further instructions, and thank you for all you do with this site, I absolutely love it. Connie:D

eetdrt88 - 4-14-2009 at 04:47 PM

any chance the new shirts will come in groovy colors like lime green or fuschia pink:biggrin:

Fred - 4-14-2009 at 05:50 PM

Now I have to get 2. Lime for drinking beer and pink for church.

24baja - 4-14-2009 at 07:39 PM

I like your style Fred, I may follow suit! Connie

BajaNuts - 4-14-2009 at 09:32 PM

Oh..... COME ON, NOW>>>>>>
NOW I have to get 12 instead of 6-----

3 people in the family, each person gets a grubby t-shirt and one to save for dressing up and going out...

now I have to get a grubby and a good shirt in BOTH colors for all of us............. AW MMMAAAAANNNNN!

Aw, well, It could be worse, I could be stuck in a northern climate with no chance of getting to Baja soon...............oh, WAIT A MINUTE...............
I AM stuck in a northern clime..:o...and no chance of getting to Baja soon..:fire::fire::fire:

aaarrrgggghhhh!

ok, i'll take the 12 t-shirts:spingrin::yes::spingrin:

ELINVESTIG8R - 4-15-2009 at 07:35 AM

I will take two. One to wear for my everyday Grubby look and the other to wear as my Sunday Going-To-Meeting shirt. Well it does say peace and love on the shirt right? Isn't that what the bible teaches. Just kidding I don't go to church. It would fall in on me. But I will still take two XXL cuz I am no longer at my prime fighting weight.

Ford - 4-15-2009 at 08:14 PM

I'll take 4 XL.....I have someone who might be able to help out if you need help getting them made. Even the hats if there is a need.

BajaWarrior - 4-16-2009 at 03:50 PM

We'll take two XXL and two Med. I like the gray color, goes with everything.

DavidK, hats? Stickers? The stickers would work well on our sliding glass doors. I have them on all of our vehicles...

Fred - 4-16-2009 at 03:53 PM

DK.................................I would take a few stickers and a hat.

David K - 4-16-2009 at 09:17 PM

Sorry amigos... the 'got baja?' hats were a one time deal... in 2006. Finally ran out of the stickers too... Maybe again someday?

Until then, send Doug the dinero and force him to make the tee shirts!

Where do we send the money to? Connie

David K - 4-16-2009 at 10:02 PM

Doug has to provide his address...

I know it is somewhere on one of his Q87 web sites from the time when I suggested he deserved some extra contributions for his efforts to provide this great source of information and entertainment... beyond the Tienda sales and clicking on Google ads here.

Perhaps if he had received enough cash infusion last year, the t shirt production would have not been postponed???

Bajahowodd - 4-16-2009 at 11:01 PM

Send him money after he deleted my post? Naw! I'll gladly pay when I see the merchandise. Quid pro quo.

Ron,

Your facts, for the most part, are wrong.

While I've never posted photos of the shirts there, they have been posted in numerous threads here in the forums - seems to have worked okay, as we were out of most of the shirts quite quickly.

Notably, there are quite a few items available in the Tienda, including the shirts - which still exist in size (S) and (L). The (XL) and (XXL) sold out quickly at the time - and the (M) eventually. Orders still come in for the Air Pumps, the Corazon Vaquero DVD, BajaNomad stickers, etc.

There were books previously as well, but the supplier changed their policies and made it impossible to continue with them going forward, so the books had to be pulled.

I've had an assistant working with me for over a year now, and she's gotten down the list of things to do to now help manage the Tienda. Currently she's working on arrangements for a new shirt order. The last time we made shirts, I used someone I knew in San Diego - and his company did a great job. Now, he's not with the company anymore (which surprised me greatly since it was a family business, and he's part of the family - and a good leadership-type of individual) and the price quotes from them now are significantly higher for me. Now we're trying to work together with someone we know in Tijuana.

And that's the status - and the facts...

:)

I know that this is a big project for you:saint: and your assistant :saint: and I appreciate your efforts as do all the Nomads. I will continue to watch for updates and will be one of your first customers. Thanks, Connie
