Here are some places, things and scenes that are to me symbolic of Baja and "the road". What inspires you on the way down that you have captured on
"film"?
Tres Virgenes
Burros
Hector's Shrine
Nopales in a row
Loncheria on the "shores" of Lake Chapala
Olives and other canned goodies
Santa Rosalia's panga's
Colorful buildings
Osprey nests.... on about anything higher that it is wide, in this case a parking lot light.

Ken, these are beautiful pictures, and a start to a really enjoyable thread. Thank you sooooo much for getting it going! I still haven't figured out
how to size and post pictures with my new "improved" iphoto, but this may be good incentive! I have a few good ones...Udo - 5-7-2009 at 02:44 PM

I don't know about you guys but when I think of Baja, Cardon's always come to mind... but maybe its just me.
And of course seemingly endless roads come to mind as well...

Ken
A little more specifically, they are surprisingly good in scrambled eggs, sometimes good in a sort of stew with beef and tomatoes, and really, really
good in the ensalada de nopal that I was making while you guys were making these posts:
boiled, rinsed and drained diced nopalitos
julienned jicama with lime squeezed over it
sliced radishes
thinly slices red onion
thinly sliced jalapeno chile
chopped cilantro
lots of sliced and quartered orangesTheColoradoDude - 5-7-2009 at 04:56 PM

Ken, thanks dude!- somehow I managed to forget about the boojum tree (Fouquieria columnaris)... Boojums have to be the weirdest looking plants i've

Mama Anita Espinoza will be 102 this October 16, 2009. She is a very humble lady who would never call herself an Icon so I will because I know her to
be one of the most beautiful human beings in the world. To me she is the closest thing to a saint that I know.
The City of Ensenada and the State of Baja California thinks she a pretty good gal too.

I pass by Hector's shrine every time I go to El Metate. Descana en Paz Hermano Héctor.
Bob,
Good one of you and JR. I remember using that photo for something or another regarding JrBaja. I think David K. gave it to me. Rest in Peace Brother
JrBaja.
I also used another picture I think was donated to me by David K. to make this one.
I never had the pleasure to bandy words with him but read a lot of his posts. What was it he said about “Chicken Coopers?”
Y que descansa El Señor that Pompano painted too.David K - 5-9-2009 at 09:30 AM
David, I see many times the two different spellings for Mama Espinoza/ Espinosa... Event the two awards have the different spellings... books, and
even Espinoza's business has had the two ways painted on their signs... Do you know which one is correct or does it not really matter to the family?
[Edited on 2-24-2015 by David K]ELINVESTIG8R - 5-9-2009 at 09:47 AM
When I go to El Rosario on October 13, 2009, I plan on asking Mama who or why their last name "Espinoza" was mispelled on the front sign of the
restaurant. David K. the correct spelling is Espinoza!

Thanks Skipjack Joe! that Cardon is just off the road of one of those little side trips you can take on the road to BoLA. The whole area was
enchanting, the only way I can think of describing it would be to call it a forest of Cardon's.

My Baja California Road Log of the entire Hwy. 1, Hwy. 5, Hwy. 3, Hwy. 19, and other side trips was published in January, 1975... see cover, below.
Since then, I have only done various 'special' road logs of my trips to interesting places in Baja... They are ALL here on Nomad in the Trip Reports
Forum... just go to that forum and scroll back... OR, go to BajaGringo's forum http://TalkBaja.com where I have posted ALL my road logs in one post!
The road log you saw here was from our trip to El Marmol and El Volcan a couple years ago: http://vivabaja.com/marmol

You'll need to go to the brewery or a TJ event, they usually set up beer tents at gatherings. This photo was from last month at the art festival in

Can you put up some locations (address) of brewery's in Ensenada and/or Tijuana. Would be some very useful information ....
I don't think I have ever had beer in the States from a Wooden barrel... would like to try it.. any more on taste reports of same would be great..
Plus it might help the local economy, or I might help the local economy..
