Icons of Baja
Here are some places, things and scenes that are to me symbolic of Baja and "the road". What inspires you on the way down that you have captured on
"film"?
Tres Virgenes
Burros
Hector's Shrine
Nopales in a row
Loncheria on the "shores" of Lake Chapala
Olives and other canned goodies
Santa Rosalia's panga's
Colorful buildings
Osprey nests.... on about anything higher that it is wide, in this case a parking lot light.

Ken, these are beautiful pictures, and a start to a really enjoyable thread. Thank you sooooo much for getting it going! I still haven't figured out
how to size and post pictures with my new "improved" iphoto, but this may be good incentive! I have a few good ones...

I don't know about you guys but when I think of Baja, Cardon's always come to mind... but maybe its just me.
And of course seemingly endless roads come to mind as well...
and skulls...

Whenever I see "Hector" it always reminds me to slow down a little and be careful. Someone must have loved him alot to make such a memorial.

A little more specifically, they are surprisingly good in scrambled eggs, sometimes good in a sort of stew with beef and tomatoes, and really, really
good in the ensalada de nopal that I was making while you guys were making these posts:
boiled, rinsed and drained diced nopalitos
julienned jicama with lime squeezed over it
sliced radishes
thinly slices red onion
thinly sliced jalapeno chile
chopped cilantro
lots of sliced and quartered oranges

Ken, thanks dude!- somehow I managed to forget about the boojum tree (Fouquieria columnaris)... Boojums have to be the weirdest looking plants i've
ever seen... they look like something from a Dr. Seuss book
although I think I like cardons a little more

Missing the biggest icon..
