Today (in Southern coastal California) was one of our first 'normal' dry HOT summer day, as well! Was 97º in Escondido and 86º five miles from the coast at my home. weather said it would be 110-115 in our local deserts today... and the heat will continue for the next 4 days.

woody with a view - 8-26-2009 at 05:25 PM

29 palms was 111 on my thermommy..... i must be getting used to it cuz it wasn't too bad.

DENNIS - 8-26-2009 at 05:30 PM

I got side-tracked in TJ on my way home today and the dashboard thermometor read 98. Muy hot.

shari - 8-26-2009 at 06:44 PM

It was 87 here today till the breeze came up and 58 percent humidity with an enormous swell....i would have turned the fan on for a bit if I had one.

Pompano - 8-26-2009 at 07:40 PM

Damn hot here on the Oregon Coast, too, Russ. Not the place where one would expect 86 degree temps. But..it is August, the hot month.

Cooling off now, though..down to 81 on the beach at Lincoln City.

I can remember digging a well in western ND in August when the afternoon temps hit 112. Jeez..I wish I could lose weight today as fast as I did that day!

David K - 8-26-2009 at 07:49 PM

If you get near Newport, try and find Baja Rob and Connie (of Bahia Santa Maria) who are up there for the summer... There's a sea food restaurant called Sharks also, I hear!:D

steviecroc - 8-26-2009 at 10:15 PM

Pompano, lots of nice salmon in the Rogue estuary and you are fairly close, a bit cooler too. The voices in my tackle box are saying I should be there tomorrow.

Side-tracked in TJ...............?

98? The "hot" part of town? ;D

I was on the TJ beach yesterday afternoon, quite a bit west of centro as you know, probably mid-80s, pretty much as hot as it gets.

Let's see....where was I?
Crossed south around 11:00 , took the fence road up and over the hill and found the entrance to the toll road closed so, went straight to the Rosarito turn off by the Army base. Up and over that hill, desending towards Rosarito, my dash thermometer read 98.
Went straight to Dave's place for a cold one.

That's Dave's Place...Margaritaville, Puerto Nuevo. Coldest beer in town with Dave at the door and a five star blond beauty behind the bar....just cuter than a basket full of speckled pups.
That's Margaritaville [or Dave's Place, if you prefer]

Seems to me you have the best year-round weather in all of baja. Perhaps a bit cool in the winter, but nice. How do you think your temperatures compare to Ensenada?

That's quite an interchange construction project that's going on isn't it?

Carambola at Dave's place? I've just discovered that and I think it's great. Very challenging.

bajaguy - 8-27-2009 at 06:28 AM

Not Baja...but...105 today in Las Vegas.....gaaak!!!

shari - 8-27-2009 at 08:29 AM

Weather is so...personal. I think Asuncion has great year round weather...all things considered. It is 75 degrees in our house right now...doors closed with 59 percent humidity...real humid today from the tropical storm offshore...swell is down a bit but still raging and salting up our windows.

Osprey - 8-27-2009 at 09:16 AM

I think we're having an unusually warm summer in the southland. Does peanut butter usually bubble in the jar? Looks the tar pits tar pits at La Brea, La Brea

Only when it wants to take over. Sleep with one eye open, Jorge.

rocmoc - 8-27-2009 at 09:34 AM

We have been above 100 half the summer near the AZ/Mexico border. Normally we don't get above 98. Most people are not aware that Phoenix sits in a hole at around 1600 feet and as you travel South thu Tucson (2600 feet) toward the AZ/Mexico border you are climbing to a min of 4,000 feet on the border at Nogales. It has been HOT & DRY. The lack of monsoon rain has been hard on everything living!

Pompano, go south to Gold Beach for the 70ish and am fog. Stayed at Lobster up the river Tues. very comfy. Saw maybe a hundred boats on the mouth and actually someone land a small salmon in a Gregor boat. The fog actually sent us back to the valley for summer weather. Did some rock houndin on Smith R and Illinois. Oh yes, the road down the Rogue to Agness was quite an adventure too.

vandenberg - 8-27-2009 at 12:01 PM

Nice here in Nopolo at 1;00 pm

Temp 88, humidity 48, bloodpressure 130/68, pulse 60.

DENNIS - 8-27-2009 at 12:04 PM

At this moment....95 in the shade of my back porch. No breeze at all.

Russ - 8-27-2009 at 03:12 PM

Just was in San Marcos (SD County) CA: 97ºF today... but it was DRY HEAT!

Russ - 8-27-2009 at 03:17 PM

Some weather station! It says rain. What's that about? Well the barometer has really taken a nose dive in the last 45 minutes. But nothing but BLUE skies except over Mulége and Bob & Susan's.:D

Nope, that is over at Camp Pendleton (near where I live)... There are fires on Camp Pendleton every week (it seems).

DENNIS - 8-27-2009 at 03:38 PM

There's one burning like hell right down the coast. Could be near La Bocana...hard to tell but the sky down there is full of smoke.

Bajahowodd - 8-27-2009 at 03:48 PM

For all you fans of Garden Grove, it's 99 right now.

Oso - 8-27-2009 at 04:33 PM

Wusses:rolleyes: It's 117 here and I'm not even sweating.

Bajahowodd - 8-27-2009 at 04:37 PM

I was in Brookings a few years back, wearing a coat. Drove about ten miles inland to O'Brien and could hardly breath. The locals said that was nuthin. I said Adiós.

Pompano - 8-27-2009 at 04:46 PM

Just talked to an amiga near Escondido, Ca. Been 105-110 for a couple days and they are packing up to head to the Colorado at Laughlin for a water party. Sounds like the thing to do.

Dennis, she said they were going out to buy lifejackets. I think they intend to stay in the water...where it's a mite cooler...drink a few cold ones.

On Brookings. I have always found much hotter temps there than anywhere on the Oregon Coast. That stretch is nicknamed the Banana Belt. Seems like we always have shorts and short sleeves on when there...unlike most other Oregon beaches.

Crusoe - 8-27-2009 at 05:12 PM

Good Sleepin Weather here on the Olympic Penn. High 72degrees and a lite 10kt North Westerly, just to keep the air nice and fresh. Doesn't get any better anywhere!!! Have to rub it in. ++C++:lol:

Pompano - 8-27-2009 at 05:25 PM

Just went through the Olympic route a while back, Crusoe. You live in a nice part of the world where the sun won't beat you into the ground..although the rain might.

Heck, I even like the lavender fests in Squim! (Hi to mulegemichael & beachgirl)

Crusoe - 8-27-2009 at 05:50 PM

Hey Pomp, Your in some nice country now too. Watchout for those afternoon onshore N.Westerlys...Going N. from Cape Sebastan South to Crecent City. It can come on fast and blow like stink and make you an old man way before your time. Very humbeling. ++C++

I was there when a storm came through. a little rainy but, I could live there.
Stayed in a hotel on the beach just out of the frame, left side near the top of your foto. Nice place with a strange twist. All of the housekeepers spoke English.

I'm with Oso---your heat wave is the normal temp for Fort Worth-----average day temp June to August is 95-105 degs...night only gets down 81-82 degs, its often still in the 90s at midnite. And the humidity---35-80 percent...friggin brutal, and I work outside in it...gotta get a desk job or move back to SoCal ASAP!

shari - 8-28-2009 at 05:31 PM

I had to turn the fan on for an hour this afternoon when it got to 81 in the house...ewwww...I can imagine what it's like on the gulf side today. We did have a wonderful swim now that the water has warmed up to around 75 and was so nice to cool down in and the swell is diminishing too.

Russ - 8-28-2009 at 06:07 PM

Hell Shari, You'd melt going in for a "cool" dip. It's over 85º:spingrin:

Bob and Susan - 8-28-2009 at 06:29 PM

russ

maybe its time you come over again for a "cool dip"
