BajaNomad

It's official: "Security Alerts" about Baja Norte will be not be tolerated! OMG

Woooosh - 1-26-2010 at 02:19 PM

http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/noticias/estatal/2010/01/13/38...

For all of us who wondered out loud why the UT and others don't report crime- now we know why.

"In an effort to reverse the poor image of Baja California, Tijuana particularly with respect to security, the Secretaria de Turismo del Estado (SECUR) has prepared the implementation of two new strategies: To move directly against anyone who generates alerts and to begin a political campaign with the help of the Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores(SER).

...in 2009 there was an investment of more than 60 million pesos from cooperative agreements between the Council of the Mexican Tourism Board (MTB), the state government and the private sector participation to achieve this goal.

In order to enhance media presence in southern California, these groups have been approached:

California Automobile Association (AAA)
Newport Beach Sailing Association
The Editorial board of the Orange County Register
The San Diego Union Tribune
ABC and NBC of San Diego "

This post heavily edited until "Security Threat" is defined... :saint:

Geeeeez....now we are going to have to rely on BN for the latest dirt to be dished out.....

Probably we will get the same range of worries and reassurances....

My, my how his story has changed in two years:

Quote:
“Whatever it takes, it’ll be done” to keep tourists safe, said Oscar Escobedo Carignan, Baja’s new secretary of tourism.

“I don’t want to downplay what happened,” Carignan said. “We take it seriously. And we’re making every effort to control it.”

Another merited tasering of Mtgoat666

Bajahowodd - 1-26-2010 at 04:20 PM

Christianaction.org. OK. It is becoming abundantly clear that if we allow ourselves to follow and better yet believe in this stuff, we are complicit in what certain factions would rejoice about. The inexorable plunge toward Armageddon.

The US had better wake up soon to understand the idea that life as we have known it is being hijacked by religious fundamentalists on both sides. The world deserves better.

Yes, she will. I wonder why they haven't completely stifled the Mexican press, like AFN and Zeta. Maybe they think there's no Spanish readers in the US.
Prior to the emergence of the PAN Party, the government controled the newsprint, the paper. If the PRI line was strayed from, the newspaper got no paper on which to print their scurrilous garbage, all in the interest of protecting the reader, of course.
