Reports of my death are somewhat exagerated....

Debra - 4-6-2010 at 09:24 AM

seems that there is a rumor going around Bahia that I croked :o not yet, Ive gotten some emails and messages on my home phone that folks are worried so I figured this is the best way to let everybody know.

Note to others: See what happens when you don't go on Nomad's or check email for awhile?

shari - 4-6-2010 at 09:39 AM

I thought I saw you at that Elvis concert a few days ago....glad you are still with us. A few years back...twice in one year I was reported croaked too and my mexican friends said that it means you will live a very long life....whew!

Well... Debra, glad I still have the opportunity to meet you!

You're in a unique minority, lady, and I celebrate your unbirthday today.

Here's a link to Bette Midler beltin' out "Miss Otis Regrets... She's Unable to Lunch Today".

You may need to do a search on youtube: I especially enjoyed the campy BetteMidler/Joan Crawford pics. Fred Astaire was a hoot, too!

That's a good one. People hear you have passed on so they send you emails.:lol:

Debra - 4-6-2010 at 11:53 AM

Yes, Dennis..........I emailed to Coral Pepper hopeing he family would read it after she died and a few weeks I was IMing with Baja Gal-pals when a window popped up telling me I had an email from her, I had forgotten about the email I had sent so it really freaked me out.......it was her children thanking me for my email. :o

Keri - 4-6-2010 at 12:19 PM

Welcome back to the land of the living.Hope you have a good long life like the mexicans believe.k

Bob H - 4-6-2010 at 12:36 PM

Debra, maybe you could have milked it a few more days just to see what folks had to say about you.

Glad they story was MORE than somewhat exagerated.

Debra - 4-6-2010 at 12:42 PM

Dang Bob, I should have thought of that! (or maybe not?) :bounce:

I think I have gotten to the bottom of how this started, seems one of the "workers" whom has never worked for me (I was warned about him) was telling people that now that I have died he was out of work..........Sheesh! what a way to drum up business!

I did come to his rescue once when he was out of gas,.........not good deed goes un punished I guess.

Well as Mark Twain once stated - the reports of my demise are true just somewhat early. Did not use quotes as I could not remember the exact words. Good to hear you are in the same boat - so to speak. Jim

Oggie - 4-6-2010 at 02:48 PM

Glad to hear you are still with us!! When is your next trip to Bahia?

baja-ebonny - 4-6-2010 at 05:34 PM

Happy your still alive.....When will you be down? We will be there Saturday and stay a week.

David K - 4-6-2010 at 05:50 PM

No it couldn't be true... since you alread died from heat stroke on the trail to Tinaja de Yubay, back in July 2001 on your first outing with us crazy Baja Amigos!

No help from your cell phone... only a well placed Viva Baja bumper sticker to attract attention!

Mike Humfreville was the first to find her body... that's his leg in the photo.

Seriously, very happy it was a false alarm my friend! Otherwise there would be thunder in the clouds as you and Mike H. statred one of your 'debates' aroud the campfire! LOL

At BBBB-1, Cielito Lindo, July 2001

With Mary Ann Humfreville and the gang, north of Gonzaga Bay. Lots of friendships started that trip!

Sallysouth - 4-6-2010 at 09:02 PM

24baja - 4-7-2010 at 12:19 PM

Debra, not sure if we have met you yet, but sure glad you are still with us!!

Santiago - 4-7-2010 at 12:19 PM

I was in camp when the sad news hit - we all paused a moment, raised our glasses in salute and then everyone started fighting over who would get your unit.....

Debra - 4-8-2010 at 06:40 PM

Yes 24Baja......my "unit" is right at the launch ramp.

You guys are really bad, bad boys!

I want to say thanks for all the kind words (some of you anyway ) and for those of you who joined me here at Nomad's for my "cyber-wake"

To more important things: NO! YOU DON'T GET MY BEACH OR MY NEW BANO!!!!!!!

Debra - 4-8-2010 at 07:15 PM

No...........you guys do. :P

josie - 4-9-2010 at 07:10 PM

That is just too funny! Years ago a cousin of mine in Texas was reported as having passed in the local paper. They had gotten the name wrong and the news spread around town like wildfire, including my aunt - his mother. When he called to tell her that he was still alive she fainted at the sound of his voice on the phone, thinking his ghost was calling her. The family still gets a good laugh over that one and we love to remind him each year when the date rolls around of his "passing".

I was just wondering Debra, did you have any after life experiences?
Anything life changing? I know you gave me a scare.
Glad you are still around for all of us to tease.

Good morning Suzanne,

Be sure to check back later and see the photos I posted above... my web host's server is having issues, so the photos (linked back to VivaBaja.com) won't show when the server for VivaBaja is down.
