Infomercial for sure.......but, you can get in on the ground floor now for only....!!!!!!!! Donald Trumps Mexican 1/2 brother is alive and well...

Mexicorn - 5-25-2010 at 06:20 PM

It wont happen in our lifetime.

desertcpl - 5-25-2010 at 06:24 PM

not in my life time

noproblemo2 - 5-25-2010 at 06:31 PM

Yeah right, who will fund this one??????????? Smugglers?????

torch - 5-25-2010 at 06:58 PM

how can I get in on the ocean floor?

Howard - 5-25-2010 at 07:47 PM

It won't happen in not only not my lifetime, but my kids lifetime either. By the way, I do not have kids.

Maybe the new generation of Americano's will not look at the past and dive right in and invest in 10 or so years. Some people never learn, look at all the projects including the Trumpster's fiasco.

...and the restauraunts and shops are all full when the cruise ships are in Ensenada:lol::lol::lol:

Woooosh - 5-26-2010 at 11:05 AM

I wonder where this "north side" location is. There really isn't much beach left in Rosarito Beach. It's impossible to walk from the tourist zone to the end with the erosion damage and all the illegal houses in the federal zone. Where will they find the place to build 20 oceanfront villas? Probably in front of my house. LOL

This is the son of the current Mayor Torres. It's a good thing Nancy Conroy is out of the picture... the shenanigans surrounding this mega-deal will be epic and she took them all to task the last time. The mayor is free to join the fray after his current term expires in a few months- so you know there must be something huge in this for him and his flailing condotel project.

What about his other project north of town called NAOS. I see they are working on that one again. You have to wonder why, when so many stand empty. Even that big resort in Baja Malibu wont open its doors. I don't think Corona Plaza has ever had all its floors occupied.

You gotta wonder, what's in it for them???? This has been going on for years.

Ditto

I'm familiar with the one South. It's next door to Sanoviv. They've already delivered the rock on site to build the breakwater. The principal investors are the same folks who owned Coral Marina. I expect construction to begin within the next few months.

I believe the business plan is you get investors early on with the promise of future development. (How many ornate entrances have we seen in baja with nothing beyond)

They promoters take the initial deposits and move on, leaving the investors with.......you know, nada.

Woooosh - 5-26-2010 at 04:13 PM

The video seemed to talk about an "in-town" location... restaurants within walking distance for tourists, bike rentals, etc...

Bajahowodd - 5-26-2010 at 04:22 PM

I was particularly struck by his comparison to cruise ships in Ensenada, and the idea that people would appreciate being able to avoid the hassles of the border. First of all, when a (dwindling number) ship arrives at Ensenada, it's carrying something like 2000 people. And they only stay in port for a few hours. Either way, just because you arrive by ship/ boat, you are not immune from the immigration requirements.

bajaguy - 5-26-2010 at 06:45 PM

Maybe they could locate the marina next to that great unused cruise ship pier at the Rosarito Beach Hotel

knuckles - 5-26-2010 at 07:50 PM

Yeah, I remember when they built that pier. It was supposed to be for a small casino cruise ship. Right off the bat the marvels of Mexican engineering were appearent. They built that additional lower pier because nobody could actually get off the boat. I heard that ship made EVERYONE seasick. Lasted less than a year?

I think they talked about it for less than a year- not sure a casino day boat ever docked. But if I was Mayor Torres (or his son in the video) why wouldn't you want a marina project at your Rosarito Beach Hotel front door instead of competing against you and downtown further out of town? This IS his son talking- so they likely have a huge stake in whatever it is.

knuckles - 5-27-2010 at 09:55 AM

The boat did dock a few times. The plan was leave San Diego, stop in Rosarito for a few hours, then on to Ensenada for a few hours. A 24 hour thing with limted cabins and sole purpose, gambling. It was a joint effort with one of the San Diego County Indian Casinos. (Veijas?) On the maiden voyage it was found that the ship and the pier were ill suited for each other and no one could get off the boat. They immediately got to work on a fix (ie: lower pier with ramp) and then the venture died soon after.

bajaguy - 5-27-2010 at 09:57 AM

Not to mention the very large rock, right off of the pier

That NAOS site is the location of the old Oasis- no? That piece of real estate has some interesting history. I wonder who wound up with the land title after the gov't seized it? Hmmm

Maybe Torres mis-spoke in the video and it is this location?:

The Sanoviv location is a good bit south of Rosarito proper for the locals to actually benefit from such a project. If the Hotel Coral people are involved wonder if Curiel is also, he is a real piece of work.........

So?

I have yet to see any project that benefits Rosarito's locals.

Except paving a few streets.
