and for $39.95 you can have it shipped next day????Terry28 - 6-6-2010 at 11:24 AM
You can buy used 2-strokes all day long for about 5-600. Nothing wrong with that....Hook - 6-6-2010 at 11:29 AM
Very fair price, especially if you live down there and want one.DENNIS - 6-6-2010 at 11:32 AM
There's used..almost new...and new. Sounds like almost new.
barely used

this motor was barely used and is almost new, if i could get the pic resize thing down i would post onemulegemichael - 6-7-2010 at 07:09 AM
i know the motor; it's in perfect shape....why are you selling it, marv?Ken Bondy - 6-7-2010 at 07:17 AM
marv's engine:
Hook - 6-7-2010 at 12:10 PM
I will bet he is selling it due to it's weight. His application requires that it be lifted or moved occasionally and 4 strokes are so much heavier,
per hp delivered, than the 2 smokers.Bob and Susan - 6-7-2010 at 01:28 PM
i have a 9.9 4-stroke and it's really light
i take it on and off all the time
no problems
a bigger 4 stroke like a 90 or 150 could be too heavy
i'll never get another 2-stroke after a 4-stroke
way better and quitercapt. mike - 6-7-2010 at 02:53 PM
if memory serves he had a nice inflatable that might have been sold a while back. maybe this was a spare motor for it?
i agree with Bob - once you have a 4 stroke a 2 is not the preferred method.
i do know that any piece of gear MM has is in top shape and kept that way at all times.Barry A. - 6-7-2010 at 02:59 PM

Does that statement apply to the Evinrude Fische 2-stroke-----I have heard the Evinrude is more powerful per HP, and just as clean as the 4-stroke,
and somewhat lighter?
BarryBob and Susan - 6-7-2010 at 03:06 PM
i've been on a boat with one of those
one of the guys here in town used to rent it out
still not as nice as a 4-stroke
maybe more power per pound but
4-stroke is way quieter
and
no CASES of "stinky" 2-stroke oil to deal with
when running a 4-stroke
they are cleaner than the "old 2-stroke" but we're not in california
no need hereBarry A. - 6-7-2010 at 03:34 PM
That's good to know, Bob-----thanks. I soon will be in the market for a new engine for my baby-Boston Whaler (13 ft. Sport) and was thinking
seriously about the Evinrude Fische after reading their ads.
Yep, CA is restrictive, and becoming worse every year.

4 strokes will also idle on a troll all day without loading up like a 2 strokecomitan - 6-7-2010 at 03:58 PM
Extremely fuel efficient.Bob and Susan - 6-7-2010 at 04:32 PM
we used ours 9 hours in one day this week
with 2.5 gallons of gas
WOW!!!
oh yea...60 fish hooked
they only kept the triggers groupers and bigger bassbajabass - 6-7-2010 at 04:47 PM
Are there places in BCS to get newer 4-strokes serviced? Parts? I have been looking at carbed Yamahas for that reason. The Merc would be a great
kicker for my center console. Just worried about service.comitan - 6-7-2010 at 05:31 PM
There is are 2 Mercury service centers in La Paz The powerhead on the mercury 4 strokes are Yamaha so more service.

I have a 2007 yamaha 2-stroke 25hp on my 15' 6" westcoaster bayrunner, and it trolls just fine...I am not fishing salmon here, I troll between 6-12mph
and can get 6 hours on 2 gallons. The mix ratio is 100:1 and I can work on it myself. It is also a lot, lot less bulky than a 25hp 4 stroke...But a 4
stroke is quiter..I'll give you that...plus I'd probably have to hand over my wallet with my arm still attached to buy a 2007 4-stroke 25hp.

I guess it's all relative.............but I will never consider 90+ lbs. "light".classicbajabronco - 6-8-2010 at 06:01 AM
90lbs for a 9.9!!!!! WTF
after a quick search, (I mean quick, first number located), I found that my Yamaha 2-stroke tiller longshaft, manual start is only 104lbs...which
seems about right.
so for every pound of engine i roughly get about 2.5hp, to a 4 strokes .99hp!!
man these new 4stroke are light and powerfull...
However, it looks like a nice clean outboard in great condition and it's already here.
