Back from 4 great Baja Days! (7-20-10)

David K - 7-21-2010 at 12:07 AM

We wanted a special, quiet weekend for our 2nd wedding anniversary... and Baja fit the bill!

Shell Island, then south to Gonzaga Bay, Coco's Corner, Cataviña, El Rosario (for a wonderful Baja Cactus night that included his & her massages), and home via Tecate today.

I will do a detailed trip report, naturally... including the new highway south of Puertecitos and the many miles of dirt detour south of Tecate... See the Baja Trip Reports forum in a couple of days...

It was great meeting two traveling Nomad families in El Rosario, too!

Here are a couple of photos, as a teaser (I took over 150)!

Good night amigos...

Oh, how cool it was to meet you guys too! Thanks for coming over to our table to say hi! We would love to see your project down south, too... Elizabeth really loved Loreto when she first saw it, last July 2009...

Great stuff as usual David!! Happy Anniversary! Wow, Huerfanito and pavement in the same image. Who woulda thunk?

David K - 7-21-2010 at 06:40 PM

I think I will post the road log from Puertecitos to Laguna Chapala in the Baja Road Conditions forum, maybe in the forthcoming trip report, too?

I can do the road log right now... the trip report with many photos in a day or two...

Here is the road log with photos: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=46842

(Belated) Happy Anniversary DK and Elizabeth! 2 years and counting . . . Wish you another 25 (and beyond), I see you and Elizabeth in the distant future (2035?) in a Tacoma with a camper going over the Widowmaker :-)

Hi Chris,

Laguna Percebu was nearly deserted last July 4th weekend, and it was cool at 85º... Last weekend, it was 10º hotter so I can't imagine anyone was there... It looked dark, all night when ever I peeked over the sand dune!

That is just the way we like it out on the island... just us and the critters!

By-the-way,just met a fellow who saw my stickers when I was doing some irrigation work... Started talking 'Baja'... turns out he has a home there (Percebu), name's Dale... Small world!

viabaja - 7-22-2010 at 10:49 PM

Thanks for update Dave. Yes, the place is pretty quiet until
Sept. There are only a few year round residents. You
should have seen lights from the Policia checking the campo out nightly.

viabaja - 7-22-2010 at 10:54 PM

Small world indeed - we know Dale - he lives up at
the Northern section of Percebu
