At Posada Concepcion, south of Mulege, members of our small community are trying to organize internal recycling programs for plastic, aluminum, tin,
batteries, and more. Altho it doesn't seem that much recycling is happening in Mulege, we've found an English-speaking Mexican there who buys various
metals, and he has a crusher and is willing to accept other materials. Seems he has a market up north that buys what he can haul up there.
Some Posadans are also discussing possible experiments for composting food waste, and we're developing a water-conservation program that includes
identifying leaks in our water system, fixing faulty toilets, and encouraging folks to capture water normally wasted in the shower, doing dishes, etc
for use on outdoor plants.
i wonder what others around the Baja may be doing to recycle materials that otherwise end up in the lovely roadside dumps up and down the peninsula.
wd love to hear about yr efforts as well as any local/regional resources or buyers of/markets for recycled materials you may know of. ...
