This will be a fun event; I'm in, and beachbum1a is coming out of retirement to face any and all challengers. I hear there are more than 10 teams signed up, but there's room for more.

sanquintinsince73 - 10-5-2010 at 08:19 PM

What the hay, I'll be there.

beachbum1A - 10-6-2010 at 07:21 AM

I hear they've signed up 15 or 16 teams now! Competition is going to be stiff but it's all for a fun time and to benefit our local volunteer Fire Dept..
(I'm thinking Bajamigo will be taking his usual professional pictures while trying to cook some ribs and won't be giving 100% to his barbecue, so maybe the rest of us have a chance!):lol::lol::lol::yes:

capt. mike - 10-6-2010 at 10:58 AM

you can't start a fire , get it optimum and cook em properly in only 7.5 hours.:light:

this is a grilling contest not a BBQ contest.

they should not allow back ribs - should be all beef or spare.

Is it cool to drink a beer while watching?

If I'm not mistaken, that effort has changed to Emergency Rescue.
If the bar owner[s] over their who is organizing this effort would quit getting their patrons blind drunk, they'd quit driving off the side of the road.

bajabass - 10-17-2010 at 04:09 PM

Had a great time, and ALL the food was scrumptious!

O.G. - 10-17-2010 at 05:57 PM

Shoot, I showed up at 3:30 and the party was over! Since the judging was to take place at 2PM or so, I thought the party was to start after that. No more ribs nor any kind of food left!!! What kind of party is that which ends at 2:30 in the afternoon??

It's old people, Al. They do things early so they can get home and sit on the toilet listening to the five o'clock news. Bed by six.
You'll understand, one of these days.

one that started at 8:00 a.m. for most of us and the afternoon before for others!

bajabass - 10-17-2010 at 08:19 PM

I kinda just wandered in, sat down, ate like a pig, met some nice people, gave the dog a huge beef rib bone, and drove back to La Mision. ;D

jak - 10-17-2010 at 09:08 PM

Was on the way, took a wrong turn and landed on Tiger's golf course. Seems to need a bit of work on the greens.
