That note on your calendar is just the reminder to compensate those folks who work Monday. :smug: You are welcome to be grateful all weekend, or even all year!

Bob and Susan - 10-9-2010 at 02:16 PM

so in the USA...

should people eat the turkey dinner

the sat-sun before
or the sat-sun after

the REAL thanksgiving day
THURSDAY the 25th

or

eat it on thursday????

canadians?????

Leo - 10-9-2010 at 03:52 PM

Most canadians will eat the T this Sunday. Monday is for the leftovers and coming to grips with hangovers etc.

To all Canadians out there; Happy TG weekend!

windgrrl - 10-9-2010 at 04:24 PM

Will be having Tofurkey (try it, you'll like it!) :P...and I have already roasted the -yup - brussels sprouts & carrots in maple butter and extra butter for tomorrow. If you don't like vegetables, you just haven't used enough butter and sugar!

This Tofurkey....does it really taste like turkey?

....haven't used enough butter and sugar!
Oh yeah! Very right on.

BajaKeela - 10-9-2010 at 08:29 PM

Now where did that come from? ..Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!

astrobaja - 10-10-2010 at 07:51 AM

I know BajaKeela I personaly hate it when Yanks posture that kind of attitude, Canadians are a bit like Mexicans at times, too polite to say anything that might offend. Too bad a little of that has'nt rubbed off on some of our neighbors to the south!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canuck borthers and sisters! We're doing a rib roast tonight in our clay oven! mmmmm!

You're begging for a visit from MrBill. Don't ruin your day, Mike.
Happy Thanksgiving.

astrobaja - 10-10-2010 at 08:59 AM

Thanks Dennis! LOL I know, but the day I start to care what people what Bill say, besides he hates Canucklandia as he calls it!

It is a rolled item and has the savory taste of the season, but the texture is more like a pork roast stuffed with pork tenderloin and stuffing. It sure is easy to make and clean up. A leftover Tofurkey sandwich is pretty close to the traditional thing. What does this have to do with Baja? Why, there's a Tofurkey travel contest and I'm taking one down for Christmas dinner!

turkey with perogies and cabbage roles for my Canadian wife:biggrin:

bonanza bucko - 10-10-2010 at 09:31 AM

It's so &^%$(*& cold up there they gotta do it a month and a half early. But maybe the Canuk Pilgrims were a little hyper and couldn't wait. Given the way they talk that is probable.

Must be lucky, never met a bad Canuk, worked with them in France in Air Traffic Control, as a Lineman building tower lines .. in Agriculture, and in the areas of Transportation, rail, shipping and air...

Always a great bunch... and never a dull moment when off "duty" ...

It's their country... and they seem to be doing ok.. with things over all.. and good for them... a decent bunch in my book...:):)

sanquintinsince73 - 10-10-2010 at 10:08 AM

Canucks Rock!!!!!!!!!! Good people, beautiful country. Feliz Dia De Gracias.

Marc - 10-10-2010 at 10:21 AM

I want to say I am sorry for my previous post (now deleted). In typical Yank fashion I in blundered in and insulted the memory of over 152 brave Canadian soldiers, men and women, who were killed in Afghanistan. Thanks to these kids we all should be thankful.

frizkie - 10-10-2010 at 10:27 AM

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to Shari and all the rest of us Canucks here!!!!

Not to worry - if you look further into history and our relationship, you'll find Canadians involved in most major conflicts, just usually our role was as peace keepers. Our military regularly coordinates and trains with USA, Britain and others. The British Army trains in my back yard and the Canadian operation there has developed many anti - chemical weapon and unmanned solutions used around the world. . More recently, we have been in the Gulf, Bosnia and Afghanistan where our role has become more engaged in battle.

Wouldn't it be something if we could focus on peace so no one would ever need to fight again?

astrobaja - 10-10-2010 at 10:31 AM

Thanks Marc, well said!

shari - 10-10-2010 at 10:59 AM

thanks astrobaja and fritzie and other well wishers....we also extend warm turkey leftovers (tofu or gobblers) to all our canuck amigos suffering up there and the lucky ones down here. I so wish some of us could gather for a nice thankful dinner some year.
I think we will be eating lobster tonight but maybe I'll pour some maple syrup over it.
We DO have so much to be thankful for...every day and this thanksgiving I am extra thankful for a long list I wont bore you with...thanks everyone for being great...now about those apples.....

How 'bout dem apples?

k-rico - 10-10-2010 at 11:06 AM

55steve - 10-11-2010 at 11:11 AM

I will be heading home from work this afternoon to the wonderful aroma of a turkey roasting. We are also having perogies as an appetizer. The good thing about being married to a Canuck is 2 Thanksgiving a year!
