I am looking for some general information on the Casa de Cambio on the U.S. side of the border at Tecate. What are their hours? How does their
exchange rate (buying pesos for dollars) compare to say the daily rate shown on Yahoofinance.com or similiar info? What fees do they charge? Limits of
dollars? Any fairly current info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, b1

Unless you are looking to exchange a huge amount of money, why not consider just hitting an ATM once you have crossed the border?

With a casa de cambio the tipo de cambio is always going to be substantially less than interbank rates.

Here's a phone number for the gas station/convenience store that sells insurance and exchanges currency in Tecate USA: 1-888-642-8366

I haven't been through there in a while. Is there more than one money exchange place in Tecate USA, or no?
Are they "no commission" places - and how do the rates compare to places like Baja-Mex in San Ysidro?
Thanks,
-

Just noticed that Baja-Mex has an office in Tecate. These are all independent and have different rates... but here's the info off their website:
Address: 443 Tecate Road, Tecate, CA 91980
Hours: Mon-Sun: 8:00am - 8:00pm
Tel: 619-478-5060

there's a mailbox place right as you cross into the USA
on the right side at the stop sign
they have a no comission exchange there
they also sell insurance
the rate is the same as baja mex
maybe the same source for money

Does anyone know the hours the casa de cambio is open in Tecate? It is open on Saturday and Sunday?
