bajaguy - 6-14-2011 at 07:07 AM

A bunch of nekkid, dope smoking freaks living in the desert for a week surrounded by even more voyeurs............

No thanks

Dave - 6-14-2011 at 07:07 AM

At $320 a ticket and no showers, I'll pass.

Santiago,

Thanks for the morning laugh/coffee snort.

We're going to the Live Oak Music Festival this weekend, then to Baja. Live Oak is nothing like Burning Man, there's no desert involved...http://www.liveoakfest.org/pp/index.shtml

I'm going.

Bajajorge - 6-14-2011 at 08:38 AM

:?:What's the big deal about Burning Man? There is a year long weirdo festival going on constantly. It's called San Francisco.

Packoderm - 6-14-2011 at 08:44 AM

Everybody, within reason, should experience Burning Man first hand. It is not possible to gain insight about it from somebody who has not been there.

Been there, done that.....still washing playa dust out of everything.............

Still too many dopers (grass, hash, cocaine, pills, mushrooms, LSD) ...........and nekkid people who should invest in clothes .

Burning Man is a commercial venture that gets rich off of other peoples stupidity, and condones the use of illegal substances.............

Yes, it's all that - and more! I didn't see any cocaine there though.

BooJumMan - 6-14-2011 at 09:07 AM

I went when I was 18, it was great... I'd go back If I had some friends who wanted to go ..

Well, apparently you didn't look

capt. mike - 6-14-2011 at 11:02 AM

all very interesting, and phunnie!:lol::lol::lol:

i have friends going in 2 large diesel pusher mohos. trailering motos etc.
they know how to party! and cost is no object to them....

was thinking about flying in and hooking up with them as they open a strip just for the event.

3 years ago or so the BBP did a group fly in and stayed 2 nites camping with the planes - their pix and trip report was pretty awesome.

i don't do the dope thing but people watching and a bin full of loonies is always a riot!
so we'll see.:O:O

The biggest danger about going is dealing with all the planning for going again the next year.

capt. mike - 6-14-2011 at 02:21 PM

i wish the tickets were cheaper or you could get a day pass....3 franklins plus seems quite high to get high... hahaha.

i can only take a couple of days if i do it.
ought to be enuff nonsense i'd think??

Packoderm - 6-14-2011 at 02:29 PM

You can find tickets for as low as $210 on eplaya and craigslist.

Bajahowodd - 6-14-2011 at 03:55 PM

"Burning Man is a commercial venture that gets rich off of other peoples stupidity, and condones the use of illegal substances............."

I'll buy into the idea that it has become a cash cow for some corporate interest.

However, using illegal substances is something that seems to happen everywhere.

Been to a concert lately?

They're legit. You can check the numbers with the Burning Man org. to make sure they're genuine. Here is a site for tickets for sale: http://eplaya.burningman.com/viewforum.php?f=190

So any Nomads venturing up to Burning Man?
Someone offered me a ticket and fuel to fly them in for a few days.
Doesn't seem like too big a hassle for an other-worldly experience.

Capt. you might be able to get a ticket in exchange for flying somebody into the playa. The winds can be strong for landing.

Ticket sales have stopped for the first time in burning man history since they hit the 50,000 ticket sold mark. Have always had an interest to go, I live about 2 1/2 hours away but haven't got into it...yet.
