Surprise drug test for 200 Rosarito City Employees.

They were invited to a conference, but once there were drug tested with the PGJE present to verify fairness. I believe they were lured to the conference with free donuts. Doping results due this afternoon. We were going to head over to the Palacio tomorrow to pay for our concession... now maybe Wednesday. (Just kidding about the donuts)

Can you imagine a city gov't pulling this in the USA? I invited a couple ZOFEMAT guys in the house for a beer Friday, but they said they had the City truck so had to settle for Cokes. They really did want the beer though. Good boys.

Yeah....as strange as it may sound, it's getting harder to give a beer to an employee of a utility any more. I had a guy from the phone company be almost offended when I offered him a tip, and the propane drivers will refuse a beer every time.
What happened to this place?

Random drug testing is more prevalent in the USA in the private sector area, but not in the government sector. The employees rarely have a say in the matter in the US where random drug testing is a way of life in the US depending on the job industry and the state you live in. Pre-employment drug testing is real big in the US too.

Perhaps Mexico/Rosarito needs their own version of the ACLU which tries often unsuccessfully to block random drug testing by companies in many states in the US. Nobody likes drug testing, especially when you give your employer no cause to think that you are on drugs.

Regarding the bribery claims from " Transparency International." I'm sure a bribe or a mordida do take place in Mexico quite often, but I"m sorry "Transparency International" is not a credible source. Transparency Internationale has their own transparency problems. TI doesn't disclose their corporate, bank, and right-wing agenda which is often detrimental to the poor countries they are talking about, and they rarely if ever report their corporate or bank sponsors for the evil deeds they do.

"Transparency" group debunked over right-wing ties

If you come across any report put out by Transparency International, it's as good as a paper airplane or toilet tissue.

TI claims to be an organization to fight government corruption around the world. Ironically, the group's own lack of transparency and attempts to manipulate coverage of itself discredit its claim.

When someone noticed that the Wikipedia entry about TI was virtually identical to the group's own description of itself on its website, a red flag went up. When others attempted to correct this, however, suspicious commenters accused these updates of "smearing" TI.

Although Transparency International claims to oppose corruption, the group was funded by Enron, an energy giant that was the focus of a major accounting scandal in the early 2000s. It was also funded by Boeing while one of Boeing's top execs was imprisoned for corrupt activities.

TI also threatened to sue a German blogger in 2006 unless she removed a blog entry that criticized the group.

TI's Venezuelan bureau is staffed by operatives tied to organizers of a failed right-wing coup against democratically elected President Hugo Chavez. One of these staffers worked for a right-wing think tank that was funded by the Bush regime using American taxpayer dollars. Several personnel from TI's Bosnian branch have been accused of racketeering.

Meanwhile, TI refused to expose corruption in the U.S. government under Bush. TI's laughable Corruption Perceptions Index gave high marks to the Bush regime and has given a very high ranking to the totalitarian dictatorship in Singapore, despite widespread public corruption there.

Even though TI's idiotic blubberings don't square with the facts, the media machine still doesn't seem to have caught on.

I did a quick Google search on "transparency" after Wesson group's post and it came up. It's the first I have heard of them. Another Joe the Poser lie and yet another reason he gets no respect from Nomads.
