Ray's Restaurant update w/ pix- Mulege

CasaManzana - 10-16-2011 at 09:11 AM

As stated in another posting, Ray says Nov 4 "is gunna happen" for the re-opening this season. He says you are going to notice many improvements in the decor.
The new roof has all steel beams welded to rebar to keep in place- notice the bright blue beams in this pix-

And you can get a better idea here (taken through the door window) of the scope of his project-

The rest of the ranch is as green and beautiful as one could imagine, including the clubhouse and pool-

New this year is the garden which Ray says will supply much of the materials for his salads. He aims for as much organic produce as possible. This garden is about half an acre and equipped with a water drip system.
The road out there is dusty but mostly without ruts.
Ray hopes to have his internet/email up and running in a few weeks

Sounds like Ray's Rancho is new to you. Besides a great restaurant (IMHO), there is a park with 15-20 full hook-ups for RVs, a clubhouse con swimming pool and swim-up bar if that meets your fancy. Ray has always had a number of birthday/wedding parties at the clubhouse because of the unique setting and space. The bar there is really cute. Before the 'Big Baja TJ Scare' a few years ago he had caravan RV groups coming in. There are two small rental casitas for folks who might have dinner and just mellow out the next morning reading in the hammocks or hanging around the pool. The clubhouse kitchen is first class for any function with or without Ray involved in the food/drinks. When he get his email back- raysrancho@yahoo.com-

Yes, it is new to me!

We've been overnighting (or a few days), in Mulege going both north and south for SIXTEEN years and never heard of this place. Let me count the places: Orchard, Cuesta, Villa Maria, Serinidad, Santispac, Naranjos, Punta Arena, La Perla, the far end of the Pemex lot, on the side of the old La Palapa restaurant, beach by the lighthouse, etc, .... And I NEVER heard of this place!

Thanks for enlightening us. Ray's going to be having a few new visitors.

Hope he will be open for thanksgiving this year. He wasn't last year.

That restaurant has been the primary reason we would overnight in Mulege. Not this trip. we will be past there heading North before his planned opening.
