My father was a big Marty Robbins fan. Every month heading down to San Quintin, as we descended those big hills towards Santo Tomas he would pop-in
his Marty Robbins 8-track and the following are the beautiful sounds that would fill his pick-up truck.

Love Joe Ely. Saw him in a small venue last year in Austin. Malaguena Salerosa is a classic! Carlos Nakai is great for that drive as well.

Afer I rethaught your ?, I realized I'm too amped up when
I cross into Mex to listen to anything, my ears get big,
the antenna goes up, my head is on a swivel, I'm
shouting at the wife to watch fro traffic on the right,
not until I get out away from everything do I tune
in a Mex station for Nortena Music.
El Paso, my favorite. Picked a song off BN ,Tommy Alverson
'Una Mas Cerveza', You Tube, George Strait 'Old Mexico', You Tube
Not exactly on my playlist, rather Mex reference

BTO: Rollin' Down The Highway, Taken Care Of Business, Four Wheel Drive, Not Fragile... and many more!
How Could I Forget Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass?
Wicked Game is one of my all-time favorites, but what makes this "Baja Sessions"?
Isn't there some sand in the "video" .. song always gives a different "vibe" .. a unique performance as is the video ... IMHO
Honest Mistake
Gypsy Jan - 10-18-2011 at 12:24 PM
I searched for "Baja Sessions" and found this clip.
My apologies to the purists.

As I turn off of highway 1 and onto the dirt road next to the army base, I like to listen to this tune as crack open the first one and sip my way to
San Quintin Bay (La Chorera).
Reminded me of these three "trouble in a border town" songs:

beach though have danced with Nomad amigo Perry on air guitar to Creadence Clearwater Revival in Asuncion. What a day that was!

I'm unfamiliar with Mark Mulligan, but he gets a lot for his CD's...around 25 bucks.
To make matters worse, Amazon doesn't include sound samples of his songs.
Maybe I'll take a chance on his "Best Of...." if he has one.tripledigitken - 10-21-2011 at 11:38 AM

For driving through Ensenada...lots of Sublime. If the traffic is bad then its Dead Kennedys.
After that...John Hiatt, Stones, Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Dead.
And Mexican radio.tripledigitken - 11-8-2011 at 12:31 PM

Spearo,
If you have HBO check out the series Treme. It is set in New Orleans and have had both John Hiatt and Steve Earle on. Steve Earle actually is a
character in the series. Great show for music lovers.

When I hear it back home, I close my eyes and it takes me back.
