Guessing that's the pier by Hearst Castle? I walked it with my wife and remember there being tons of kelp growing just off the pier.

Right ateo, it's the one just below Hearst Castle. Hearst built it to unload all his stuff from Europe.

Flabellina trilineata:

Amazing we spend so much effort looking for alien life above us.
God's hand is much more imaginative than anything we could dream up for a movie screen.

Ken Bondy, Thanks.:D

tripledigitken - 2-9-2012 at 07:01 AM

Wow, beautiful! Those warm cloudy days last week were really great for photography. I was wishing I was in SLO.

Great shots Ken. FYI, the cove at San Simeon used to provide a secluded place for rum runners during prohibition.

Ken you always have the greatest pictures, thanks.

Great shots Ken.
And you're above water work is as great as your underwater's.
Especially loved the last one.

Skipjack Joe - 2-17-2012 at 07:12 AM

Ken,

Are you aware of this statistic? I got it from the Mercury News.

How do the rangers explain it?

Quote:

One major change: the abundance of elephant seals. Until 1990, the large mammals were rare along the coast in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. But that year, two dozen came ashore at Piedras Blancas, near Hearst Castle. Now there are more than 15,000

Roberto - 2-18-2012 at 06:50 PM

My favorite shots of Ken's are STILL from San Francisquito. Particularly one with some Palo Adan in the foreground and the beach in the background.

These shots are great too, as are most all of what he posts, but those have a sense of reality that these do not.
