Palms mean water is not far below the white sand!

Love it! Blue Palms are somewhat unique in that they will grow away from water as well, particularly in the Berrendo/Matomi region---this one is growing at 4,200 ft elevation on the edge of a very dry lava mesa (notice Agave desertii as an indicator of aridity!), so they can take occasional snow as well as drought. Tough arse palm!

I love the white-white quartz sand and the blue palms... boojums too (my favorite tree)... all in this photo... taken 5.6 miles from Rancho Santa Ynez, on the 'road' to Mision Santa Maria de los Angeles.
