shari - 12-12-2012 at 01:27 PM

wow, what gas stations were they DAvid...we drove all over looking for a station that would exchange dollars for more than 12.

Hook - 12-12-2012 at 01:43 PM

Now that the price of gasoline is supposed to be "floating" based on "market conditions", has the price of gasoline actually gone down in any month since it was cut loose? Or is it still trying to reach a price based on "market conditions".

I wonder if the PRI will begin to try and support prices again. I imagine it would be a very popular move with the average Mexican.

With fuel so expensive, and the minimum wage set at 62.33 Pesos ($4.60 American) how are people supposed to be able to purchase fuel so they can go to work or just go out and spend money and get the economy going ?? I think that once we stabilize the price of fuel, our economy and that of so many other countries will bounce back.

What was the peso price for Magna?

jedtimesaz - 12-13-2012 at 04:10 PM

That's about $3.19/gallon for diesel at current exchange rate of 12.81.I paid $2.76/gallon for diesel in Mulege and Tecate last January. Pretty hefty increase in a year. ...the lowest diesel price I've seen in AZ is $3.59 at a Fry's in Tucson.

Just apples and apples John. Everyone else was doing the liter to gallon and peso to dollar conversion and arriving at $3.17

Tacodawgtim - 12-13-2012 at 08:39 PM

It's under $3.00 in Texas. Inlaws just called to rub it in. I'd rather pay a little more and be in California or Baja. :yes:

willardguy - 12-13-2012 at 08:44 PM

this from another site.

TIJUANA- Starting in the early hours of today, Saturday, there was the first gas price increase of the new administration of presidente Enrique Peņa Nieto, increasing Magna from 10.72 to 10.81 pesos per liter, and Premium goes from 11.24 to 11.29 and diesel increases from 10.81 to 10.90 pesos per liter. These will increases will continue until 2014, being a strong blow to family finances.

Don't know when THOSE prices go into affect but that will make PEMEX about the same as US (except for diesel):
Magna = $3.27/gal @ 12.5p/$

Premium = $3.41/gal @ 12.5p/$

Diesel = $3.30/gal @ 12.5p/$

willardguy - 12-13-2012 at 09:35 PM

again, from another site, 5 days ago.

At today's exchange rate of 12.45 pesos to the dollar, the price of gas is:

Magna (regular) = $3.29 per gallon
Premium = $3.43 per gallon
Diesel = $3.31 per gallon

The cheapest regular gas in San Diego is $3.35
The cheapest regular gas in Tucson in $2.95 per gallon
The cheapest regular gas in Albuguerque is $2.97 per gallon
The cheapest regular gas in Brownsville, is $3.07 per gallon

docsmom - 12-14-2012 at 07:43 PM
