WE HAVE FINALLY DONE IT...BECAME PROPERTY OWNERS IN BAJA AND WE BOUGHT A HOUSE IN BAHIA ASUNCION!

Udo - 4-8-2013 at 04:59 PM

Yes, Jana and purchased Laurie and Jim Farley's house in Bahia Asunción.
We have been to their house several times and totally fell in love with their beach and Jimmy Buffett's decor.
The house has two bedrooms and two baths, a beachfront lot, and lots of room to grow.
We plan on driving down in late June and early July to do some minor house maintenance, and drop off some gourmet kitchen tools.
Renters will have available a coffee grinder and also an espresso machine, as well as other electric appliances. We plan on dropping off a trash compactor so that trash will be compacted to 20% of it's original volume (BA's trash pick up is at times late).
The sunrise and sunset views are unbelievable!
Future expansion plans include adding a dining room, an indoor solarium, a larger sized bedroom, an outdoor shower, and the party room will be an upstairs palapa-covered patio.
We are planning on adding DIRECTV, but the dishes seem to disintegrate with the ocean breeze, and perhaps a ROKU box will be available at optional cost.
Rental prices will remain the same as the Farley's used to charge, except for the ROKU box at additional cost.

You may call us or e-mail if you wish to rent it for a specific time. Nomad U2U works also.

Congratulations !

DENNIS - 4-8-2013 at 05:09 PM

Good for you and Jana, Udo. Now you can shed that tourist label and call yourselves locals. :bounce:

Frank - 4-8-2013 at 05:10 PM

Congrats!

vgabndo - 4-8-2013 at 05:18 PM

Oops, I think I'm already in trouble with the new owner. In my anxiety to be on the road, I don't remember cleaning-up my oil spill from your back yard. I look forward to making it up to you.

I love that house, and can STRONGLY recommend it as a rental.
Congratulations

Even in the lee of the garage, it was still a workshop of windblown sand!

Udo - 4-8-2013 at 06:14 PM

I think the drifting sand covered up the oil by now, vgabndo, and if not, I don't think they have an AQMD of EPA in the area.

I don't think I would have done anything differently.
Heck, I used to dump the used engine oil in my back yard in the mountains, until I got wind of environmental laws.

woody with a view - 4-8-2013 at 06:32 PM

congrats! Vgabndo, what the hell were ytou thinking stacking 4x4's like that? OSHA would never approve!!!

When I worked in Alaska on fishing boats, the captain would tell us to throw the used oil from the vessel oil change over board, once the sun went down. I never did it, but my friend did. =) Wouldn't do it now though.

CONGRATS Udo on the purchase! This is one thread everyone can get on board with!!! I hope to buy someday as well. Stoked for you.

durrelllrobert - 4-8-2013 at 06:50 PM

Congatulations. Did the '66 bug go with the sale?

KaceyJ - 4-8-2013 at 07:01 PM

ATTA boy Udo

You guys finally did it!

You two should be really happy with that purchase.

HEY UDO!

Ken Cooke - 4-8-2013 at 08:15 PM

I have a free DirecTV sat dish here waiting for you. I now have Charter Cable, and have no use for the DirecTV dish and plan to unbolt it from my roof. I'll be in Long Beach this weekend - Leidys and I can stop on our way to the LBC if you give us a location.

This is the best vacation rental I have seen in Bahia Asuncion and the best prices as well. We will be in touch.

Martyman - 4-8-2013 at 09:19 PM

Alright Udo! Congrats!

Loretana - 4-8-2013 at 09:30 PM

Felicidades, Udo!

Yes, it did, Bob!
We'll have as much fun with it as we do Jana's FJ Cruiser.

I'll take it if it is the oblong dish, Ken. The smaller round DTV dish does not receive HD signals.
I'll U2U my address in Tustin.

Bob and Susan - 4-9-2013 at 03:38 PM

udo...you do realize women on vacation don't want tv

Udo - 4-9-2013 at 04:37 PM

I am sure my wife is a female, and she is the one insistent on having DIRECTV in the house.
Perhaps women on VACATION may be that way.

jbcoug - 4-9-2013 at 04:43 PM

Udo, congrats on becoming a Baja land baron!

I would re-think that DirectTV dish thing, and go to Slingbox to get the same channels you get up in CA... as long as they have TelMex DSL over there?
No more dish issues...

Udo - 4-9-2013 at 05:26 PM

That is the current problem...we have no direct phone line to the house, and the internet (on bajagypsy's router signal bounce), the signal has been somewhat inconsistent.
That is why I feel the DTV route will be the most reliable signal.

Always slow, I just realized how many of "you" are from Asuncion.

Shar, my next flyby is first days of July.

Will play it as it comes . . .

Iflyfish - 4-10-2013 at 07:43 AM

I stayed for three months this winter in this beautiful home. Great rental! Great village and lots of wonderful people in Asuncion!

Congratulations Udo and Jana, you will love your new home in Asuncion!

P.S.

"somewhere along Sammy Hagar/Jimmy Buffett/Kenny Chesney and will retire in Baja by 2013 in a 44' Monaco RV".

Grass ain't growin' under your feet . . .

Udo - 4-10-2013 at 01:30 PM

You have no idea what the rest of the plans will be.
I thought I was retiring in Baja to take it easy and relax. But that won't happen for a while!
