looks great

CortezBlue - 5-26-2013 at 02:46 PM

You should live in Phoenix, this stuff grows all over the place and the best part, no water required!!

We live in the Sonora Desert and every thing has a pricker on it!

Oh, and my Barrel Cactus bloomed today!!

Baja Dreaming.... :bounce:

durrelllrobert - 5-26-2013 at 03:42 PM

How did you get all those cacti into the US?

woody with a view - 5-26-2013 at 05:57 PM

it's a secret....

tjsue - 5-26-2013 at 06:10 PM

There are ways....just like the ways I'm going to smuggle my fancy geraniums across the border.

Bob H - 5-26-2013 at 06:25 PM

Some of these plants are over 20 years old.... the first barrel cactus is the only one from Baja... and it was very small, maybe the size of a tennis ball then. Someone had kicked it over on it's side.... and I saved it. Now it is the size of a basketball!

woody with a view - 5-26-2013 at 06:29 PM

my red barrel(S) are blooming also!!!!

BajaBlanca - 5-26-2013 at 06:35 PM

Rustic fence.... these are railroad ties, on my neighbor's side. Thanks for the kind comments on my yard! I love it.

May I suggest some clear plastic bottles filled half way up with "apple juice" to add that baja feel to the front yard?

jeans - 5-26-2013 at 08:06 PM

Beautiful! The chainlink cholla next to your varigated agave Amercana is lethal...You should transplant a piece it under a window that you want to leave open on a hot summer night.

I told my neighbor to stop me if I ever started to line the yard with half buried tires or paint the tree trunks white.

Bring a shovel and come to my casa in Phoenix and help yourself. I am on 1.5 acres and the little prickers are everywhere.

Ateo - 5-26-2013 at 09:49 PM

Bob,

I dig it! My type of yard.

Black, yellow, and white plastic bags do wonders on the cactus.

For a great drip system install, contact David K... like I said before, he did a fantastic job setting it all up. All I had to do was mark where my plants were going to be located and he took care of the rest. It has worked flawless for over 3 years now!

San Diego cacti

Bob H- Love your cactus garden. And from the view of Mount Soledad in the background, it looks like we are neighbors. Do you live in Clairemont?

We can grow just about anything in this neighborhood. We have a great microclimate up here on the Mesa.

I don't have a lot of cacti, but I do have two desert tortoises wandering in the backyard. To conserve water, I collects rainwater and have a graywater system hooked up to the washing machine.

These are the latest blooming succulents; the tortoises love to eat the flowers.

That is Black Mountain in the background. We are in Rancho Penesquitos. Thanks for the kind comments.

Nice photos and good to see everything healthy a few years after the drip system was installed. Thanks for the business plug. Show me your Baja Nomad card for a discount! LOL

Well, have you a Photobucket free account or another photo hosting web site?

Love the colors you have!

Say.........did you use old barn wood for the fence? Excellent results what ever it is.
